Well, Micah did say to post it around the internet :D

Seriously though, anyone think Bioware might retcon TOR if it runs out of steam and create KotOR 3 around 2015?

It could be the best RPG of the decade, in contention with Skyrim and Mass Effect 3. It could also be a self-delusion.

Thoughts? Speculation? Wishes? What is the prognosis for TOR so far?

the patient was declared legally dead on Jan 7, 2008 at 6:00 P.M, patient suffered from financial woes and from an abusive publisher relationship which ended in the patient taking their own life

Basically what havoc said. The publisher is the one who ultimately decides if there will be another sequel... Apparently it was in the process of being worked on but L.A. are a bunch of tight asses so in the end the sequel was scrapped.

I guess the closest you're going to get to a sequel is SWToR.

So, where is the official press release that declared this franchise dead?

This is so sad... if Lucas Arts was greedy, they'd commission the third game and make a ton of money.

Considering Revan and Lord Scourge appear in Swtor... I'm guessing that's the spiritual successor for the time being.

Tbh I don`t want to see KotOR3 any time soon. Bioware (or Bethesda) should make an RPG that takes place after the Legacy comics.

This truly sucks...
But I don't think that it's gone for good, it's just to successful.
And I know it's not much but heres couple of links.

Open World RPG from developers of Force Unleashed? No thanks. Besides SW are more just KOTOR era, and I doubt Lucas would shoot themselfs with a retcon like that to SW:TOR.

Yeah, I think I'd rather not see any conclusion to the story than a game developed by a Far-Cry 2 developer and by the studio that made The Force Unleashed...

Bioware and LucasArts would simply have to retcon SWTOR's cop-out story that cauterized all relevant plot threads before they begin designing the third game: this would require a massive amount of activation energy... maybe after Mass Effect 3 ships, Casey Hudson will return to the series that he first cut his teeth upon as a lead designer.

Casey Hudson or bust... honestly, has he ever made a bad game?

I signed the petition, but for now I'm just going to cry until I can get my hands on both knights games... and then I'll cry some more

Why KOTOR 3?
I mean KOTOR 1 was superb, KOTOR 2 was a bit dissapointing in my opinion. I would prefer a new or remake of Jedi Knight / Jedi Knight mysteries of the sith or a continue of Jedi Knight 3. I want direct lightsaber fights with combos like the old times. And no i don't want something like Force unleashed. The Ideaa of Force unleashed was interesting but it was executed poorly and i mean poorly.

KotOR 3 is in the same place where NWN3 is. Obsidian gave it a shot, completely screwed up, and killed the series.

I think it would be a real shame not to use this time and release another KOTOR game. If it's at least half true and many people playing SWTOR right now are MMO fans and they don't necessarily care about Star Wars but they end up liking the Universe. This could be the perfect time to start making KOTOR so that they could release it after people played enough SWOTOR and got the urge to play more.
Especially if Bioware ended up making it. They are almost finished with Mass Effect 3, the end of Commander Shepard's trilogy, and this would be a good time to take a breather from Mass Effect.

If this post got this many replies on such a slow forum, then I can only imagine as to what might happen on every forum if Kotor 3 were announced.

Kotor 2 is almost finished being restored and Mass Effect 3 almost released, so this would be the perfect time to start
