Mission Statement
Mission Statement,
Blistered Thumbs is a unique blend of your favorite Internet Video Producers with strong written content that you would find on more traditional gaming blogs and news sites. We feel our strength is our wide variety of personalities, each of whom view the world of video gaming differently, just like our diverse audience does.
As the first spin-off website of Channel Awesome, who owns and operates the popular thatguywiththeglasses.com, we aim to bring you a constant flow of Always-Free gaming entertainment, in much the same way as TGWTG does for movies. Whether it’s new episodes of our weekly BT Exclusive web-shows, or our well written and informative text-based reviews, news and editorials – we hope to have something for everyone!
Video Personalities
Channel Awesome and Blistered Thumbs are constantly on the lookout for video talents who produce excellent gaming-related content. Whether it be in the form of sketches about games, reviews of modern games, or reflections on the best (and worst!) games of the past, we feel that providing this content is unique and key to the Blistered Thumbs experience. Video Reviews & Exclusive Episodes help Blistered Thumbs connect to our viewers in a more close and personal way, allowing them to literally see the passion or frustration that our favorite games can evoke.
News, Culture and Blistered Thumbs Features
Moreover, we want to keep our readers connected with the interesting, and sometime humorous, world of gaming on a daily basis, through concise, well-written articles and news posts. Topics will include everything from breaking news about upcoming games, to information about developers, products, and events, to discussion of industry-wide happenings that could impact gaming in very serious ways.
That being said, we’ve seen a trend where some gamers complain when they see content that might not be considered “pure gaming news” included in their favorite gaming blog. Here at BT we’ve created a complete “Culture” Section for this exact reason. It will include art, videos, funny posts about gaming culture in the mainstream news. We think these type of posts, often considered “non-news” news, are still very relevant and interesting to a lot of gamers – which is why we will enjoy reporting on them in a specific “culture” section, to entertain and generate discussion.
Finally, our Blistered Thumbs Features Section will offer Editorials, Top Lists, Interviews, Previews, Events, and Contests to keep our users engaged and connected with the opinions and thoughts of our contributors.
High-Quality Written Reviews
One goal we want to achieve at Blistered Thumbs is addressing the concern of reviewer integrity. In addition to striving for high quality critiques in general, all of our writers follow our comprehensive review system, which includes both a recommendation and scoring system. To further aid in the trust of our readers, we give full disclosures regarding the circumstances surrounding the reviews we provide, as well as often hard-to-find information such as, how long each reviewer played the single player and multiplayer portions of a game. Our hope is that through this amount of transparency, we can maintain a relationship with our readers based upon trust and integrity.
The Diverse Gaming Public – A Variety of Opinions
We understand that there are many different types of gamers: the hardcore, the casual, the social, the undefined, etc. That’s why we strive to bring you a wide variety of opinions from our writers, video producers and site users themselves. We’ve introduced a unique “Second Opinions” section to our reviews where applicable for this purpose.
We also have a BT Exclusive Unique User Polling System on all of our games detail pages. Before a game releases users can vote on whether they are likely to buy, rent, or skip the game at release in our “User Hype Poll”. After the game’s launch date, this poll automatically reverts to a new “Our Users Say…” poll which acts as a final user verdict and displays how many of our fellow community members own, rented/traded, or skipped the game entirely. In this way, your opinion matters just as much as ours does.
The Future
We hope to continue to expand our gaming coverage – bringing you more exclusive shows, events, interviews and unique writer personalities. Our readers are the most important aspect of this website – without you guys, especially fans of thatguywiththeglasses.com, our new site would not be possible! Feel free to message us any of your tips, suggestions, or concerns to staff@blisteredthumbs.net
