December is almost done and with the coming of a new month (and a new year) means another set of free games being added to the best deal in all of gaming, namely PlayStation Plus. This time around PS3 owners who subscribe to the service are in for a real treat as three terrific games from 2013 all make their way to the Instant Collection. The three titles are as follows: DMC: Devil May Cry, BioShock Infinite, and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. It is an eclectic mix of games that are united by how well received they were critically and I can add my personal recommendation for Infinite to the pile as well. And I can’t wait to play those other two come next month as well.
Of course, the PS4 and PS Vita will be getting some new additions as well and if they are not necessarily as overstocked as the upcoming titles for PS3, they still look like decent enough additions all things being equal. For the PS4 it will be a game that is actually launching on the console in January as well: Don’t Starve: Console Edition. For those unfamiliar with this indie darling, the PlayStation Blog describes it as an “uncompromising wilderness survival game full of science and magic.” Which sounds just about right to me.
Meanwhile, the Vita will see two new titles added to its instant collection in January with the first being Worms: Battle Island. This latest entry in the ever growing Worms series features “sixty single player challenges, five game modes, a powerful level editor, and a massive selection of ways to personalize your worm army and customize your game experience” with up to four players being able to battle it out either on or offline.
Second is Smart As… which is apparently the latest answer to the Brain Age series and offers players the chance to “Solve math, memory, logic and word puzzles, crack augmented reality challenges and sharpen your rapid-fire reflexes to storm up the online leaderboards and show off your scores to the world via Facebook and Twitter.” For more on all of these games be sure to check out the video below.
