So far the trailers for Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth have tended to make this upcoming 3DS-exclusive look like more a lighthearted romp than is often typical for a Persona game. There would have been nothing wrong with that of course, but for all the humor present in these titles, it is still ultimately a series that has tackled subjects ranging from suicide to serial killings and beyond. It is a series that has the guts to ask hard questions about humanity that often have no easy answers while also pushing against the taboo. I mean, Adolf Hitler was a boss battle at one point in this series, which is really enough said.
So the idea that a game featuring the casts of Persona 3 and Persona 4 coming together apparently via some form of time travel to deal with a new threat would only be a goofy super-deformed affair may have struck some the wrong way. However, the latest trailer for Persona Q make it clear this will not be the case at all. Indeed, there will be some heavy moments for two of the best cast of characters in all of gaming to deal with, cutesy look or no. To see for yourself what I mean be sure to check out the trailer below.
Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth has yet to be officially confirmed for release in the West, but I remain utterly confident such an announcement is coming sooner or later.
