This scene remains glorious even after all these years.

UPDATE: Square Enix has now released a new version of their recent Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX trailer and this time around they have included the English voice cast so can actually understand what is being said. Plus its always surreal to hear Mickey, Donald and Goofy speak in Japanese. Not bad mind you but definitely a bit strange. Enjoy.

ORIGINAL STORY: While Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX was by no means a bad collection in and of itself, its Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX that most people has been really waiting for. After this is the collection that includes Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep i.e. the two KH titles that are generally agreed on to be the best in the series. Plus while 1.5 Remix included only PS2 games (the cutscenes from 358/2 Days do not really count in this regards), 2.5 ReMIX will include a game previously only available on PSP (since not even the Vita can playBirth due to the game being too big for Square Enix to ever sell it via PSN).

And since it would be fair to say that the PS3 has far outsold (especially outside of Japan) the PSP, this means that the audience for Birth will be greatly expanded. Indeed for many this will likely be their first chance to play what is my favorite title (even if it only just edges out KHII) from one of my all-time favorite series. So it would be safe to say that Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX is the real deal as far as HD Collections go and now here is a new trailer from the Jump Festa Expo to further tease the appetites of KH fans the world over.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX will be arriving exclusively for PS3 in North America, Europe and the UK sometime in 2014. It will include the Final Mix versions of both Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep which in turn means players can look forward to oodles of never-before-seen content including new abilities, game modes and bosses for both games and in particular a playable episode post-ending for Birth. It will also include the cutscenes from Kingdom Hearts Re:coded which is something alright. Yep. It is something that is unquestionably happening. Stay tuned to Blistered Thumbs for continuing coverage of the game and be sure to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

I just caught something extremely worrying: The English Trailers make no mention of the Final Mix versions!

I’ll stick out for this, while KH2 is a good game, I honestly think its really flawed and not really the “best” of the franchise.

I agree, the game is just too mash-heavy compared to both the first and several later installments in the series.
Now, BBS on the other hand fully sells this package for me.

Aside that for me, its also that some elements of the story didn’t have good pacing. Some worlds felt dragged and story elements not needed. Especially trying to recapture certain moments from the movies, like in The Lion King when confronting Scar. Felt half-assed and unnecessary.

    “exclusively for PS3″

Why is it not on PS4 as well? I don’t see the problem is putting it on both PS3 and PS4. I don’t really want to buy another console just for it when I have one.

Because I.5 was on the PS3, so putting this on the PS3 makes sense. Keep the ReMIXes on PS3, and wait until KH3 before jumping to the PS4.

Perfect screenshot choice, Shaun. That sequence alone is part of the reason Kingdom Hearts II remains as my favorite of the series, the obvious reason notwithstanding.

But there is no reason to not have them on PS4, there both sony consoles so I honestly don’t see the point in not putting them on PS4 as well.

Because that system is already getting KH 3. Besides, it would probably cost more money to put it on the PS4 (though funny enough that would be the only interesting game on the PS4 for me)

Even though I’ve grown a bit jaded when it comes to this franchise as I aged, I’ll jump on this chance to get BBS on my PS3 in a heartbeat.
