UPDATE: Elemental-Labs, Inc. has canceled the first crowdfunding campaign for their cyberpunk action-RPG entitled Reborn. The fundraiser amassed about $50,000 of its $200,000 goal about halfway into the effort, but the team decided to pull the plug. According to the latest KS update, they will reconfigure their pitch and relaunch a new Reborn crowdsourcing push this November.
You can read the full statement at the link above, but the official explanation is that the company wants to simplify their pitch, overhaul the backer rewards, and provide a more substantial look at the actual gameplay of Reborn.
ORIGINAL STORY: Kickstarter campaigns come and go. We see a million of them vying for our money each day. But sometimes you come across one that just demands your attention, whether or not it seems possible. Reborn, developed by Elemental-Labs, Inc. with a marketing team of ex-Nippon Ichi employees, is just such a project. Described as a cyperpunk action-RPG that combines eastern and western aesthetics and design sensibilities, Reborn appears to be underestimating the scope of its own aims with a $200,000 goal. Regardless, the 3D modeling and team (featuring Shin Koyamada from The Last Samurai) is too interesting to ignore.
Reborn is planned for PC, PS3, PS4, PS Vita, and Xbox One.
