UPDATE: The announcement trailer for Square Enix’s Nosgoth just went live. As previously reported, it is a “competitive, team-based Human vs. Vampire free-to-play multiplayer game set in the dark fantasy world of the Legacy of Kain series.” You can sign up for the closed beta right here.
ORIGINAL STORY: Back in February, a leak revealed that Square Enix was publishing a game called War for Nosgoth, a game set in the same universe as the esteemed Legacy of Kain franchise. Today, almost four months later, more details have been revealed. First, the game is simply Nosgoth (the name of the Legacy of Kain‘s setting) and it is likely not going to be a single-player experience. At least, according to Square Enix community manager George Kelion who spoke to VG247 to state that the game is in active development, although it is not in development by Crystal Dynamics, the developer who made every game in the franchise with the exception of the original Blood Omen.
While this is surprising, the story is also surprising as it is not directly connected to the Legacy of Kain‘s storyline. Instead, Kelion stated that “Nosgoth is set in the same universe as previous LoK games, but on a different branch to the Blood Omen and Soul Reaver series.” There is currently no release window for Nosgoth.
