Formed back in 2007, the Georgia-based indie publisher Xaviant is looking to make a new FPS IP their first officially published game. Not only that but they are also trying to bring something different to a genre and market still ever seemingly dominated by games of a military persuasion. Lichdom will be a CryEngine 3-powered “first-person action game with an emphasis on role-playing and crafting spells.” Which sounds like the kind of mix that should appeal to hopefully a wide variety of players.
The game is set in a world where humanity is beset by “the forces of worldly decay: corruption, greed, and decadence.” Players will “wield magic like a weapon across vast, unpredictable and mythical landscapes” and “face cunning enemies and daunting challenges in a battle for the ultimate prize: control of the world and everything in it.” Perfect fodder for a high fantasy adventure filled with explosions and monsters aplenty in other words. Check out Lichdom‘s just released announcement trailer below for your first taste of this intriguing new title.
Lichdom (aka Lichdom: Redeemer – The 6th Age of Roth) is being aimed for release on PC sometime in the Summer of 2014. When the game was initially announced back in 2010 it was also being primed for release on PS3 and Xbox 360 as well but it remains unclear at this time when or even if a console release might still be in the cards.
