Eiji Aonuma is playing it coy today.
IGN asked the legendary Zelda director if the perennial fan favorite Majora’s Mask would receive a remake from Nintendo. His reply was, “Please write that I laughed.”
“Don’t make it sound like I laughed because I was troubled or inconvenienced or put out,” said Aonuma. “I don’t want them to read anything into it. But if you want to say that I laughed, I think that would be a good answer.”
If anything, this is perhaps the most sly response to a question I’ve ever seen. Its cryptic, dodges the question, and can be interpreted any way we want! Eiji Aonuma should be a politician.
Majora’s Mask is often considered one of the best Legend of Zelda games ever made by fans of the series, even surpassing Ocarina of Time and Link to the Past in terms of popularity. Released in 2000 on the Nintendo 64, interest in Majora’s Mask has resurfaced in the past year over, with rumors of a 3DS version and the re-release of the Majora’s Mask soundtrack for Club Nintendo members happening earlier this year.
