Some good news, perhaps, for fans of the Gamecube cult classic Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem. The cerebral survival horror title has been re-registered for trademark by Nintendo today.
The last time Nintendo re-registered their trademark for Eternal Darkness was in 2010, going for a three year contract while Silicon Knights hinted at working on a new title in the series. With Silicon Knights now all but shut down it seems like Nintendo is gearing up to show off the survival horror title once more.
The last bit of information is the new coverage for “downloadable electronic game programs; downloadable electronic game software.” This is still no confirmation for a sequel of the title, and with Dennis Dyback heading the Shadow of the Eternal’s Kickstarter, it is very unlikely it will happen. But if nothing else, now we have a chance for a downloadable version of the title for all to enjoy.
