If you play Age of Wushu as a male character, you better keep an eye on your naughty bits because The Rootless Clan is running a membership drive and the only entry fee is the contents of your character’s scrotum. In a future update, the Rootless Clan, a tough-as-nails group of eunuchs players can join, will ambush highly skilled characters and attempt to castrate them. While the technique has a low success rate, it will significantly damage a character even if it fails. If you get castrated, you will receive an invitation to the Rootless Clan. Here is the process below.
If you’re worried about your character getting ambushed, you do have a few things in your favor. First, the operation tent will be attacked by any NPCs and players will be encouraged to attack it, which will interrupt the operation if the tent is destroyed. Second, the clan can only do this to players of a certain skill-level. Third, the Rootless Clan must successfully form a five-person formation and pull off the technique. If you kill one of them, you can stop the attempt. On the other hand, if you’re in the Rootless Clan, know that you will wield the most terrifying technique in the game.
Now, in case you’re wondering, castration does have a place in Age of Wushu, as Wuxia literature and film (which Age of Wushu draws its inspiration from) commonly feature eunuchs in their plots.
