Okay, who’s the Microsoft employee downvoting people’s posts? I say “employee” because, after all this, it’d be a miracle if they still have any real fans.
“Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” Capcom, EA, Microsoft…no matter how the fans react, they learn NOTHING! They’re attitudes and disregard for their consumers, it’s so infuriating. And the whole thing about being connected to the internet? From the get-go, my attitude was “It’s like a watch that only tells time when it’s connected to the internet. You’re missing the point of the product!” And when they did pull that 180, instead of apologizing for it happening to begin with, they come across as arrogant hypocrites. Microsoft listened to the fans? Well, why weren’t they doing that before? If any of them KNEW what video game fans were really like, they’d know that this would NOT be received well. And their condescending attitude…they think we’re idiots.
It’s settled. Like with Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and DmC, the ONLY way I’ll allow myself to own an Xbone is if it is given to me for free. I’m NOT putting my own money towards that thing and what it’s come to represent: hatred for the consumer and outright stupidity. Personally, I don’t think they’re even greedy. After all, if they REALLY wanted to rake in the big bucks, they’d make their fans…what’s the word for it…oh yeah…HAPPY!
Ah, but then you’d have to pay for the XBox Live Gold, so it wouldn’t actually be free.
Never said I was going to go online with them. I just said own. After all, online isn’t the only way to have multiplayer.
You know, Microsoft’s entire XBone unveiling/E3 show should be taught in business class. M$ managed to create a situation where their public image became so toxic that their stock price actually dropped as a result. MS managed to spoon-feed their competitors positive press by virtue of allowing the competition to say, “We’re not Microsoft” and having such a statement being met with lavish praise, chocolates, love letters, and bouquets of roses.
A thorough analysis of the sheer hubris displayed by Microsoft and the results of their failure to anticipate consumer reactions to their abysmal marketing of the “features” of the new console could make for an informative and fun class for those interested in marketing. As a bonus, it could help to serve as a cautionary tale to future businesses considering taking extraordinarily consumer-hostile measures and how to not to handle unveiling such things to their target market.
I have to wonder if they were ever really serious about their DRM policies. The publishers didn’t seem too big on it and they seem like some sort of parody that someone would come up with about restrictions on games. Now no one cares at all about those minor quibbles of having to connect to the internet on start up the first time or how the camera is always on. It also makes us feel like we beat them. That will influence quite a few people into buying the XBox One.
Although Microsoft have “attempted” (and I use that word lightly) to change their ways with a 180 and no, no an intended pun; but I’m sticking to buying a PS4.
I don’t know, all the chaos they could have easily avoided, the lies about having to be online all the times and exclusives, only to change at the last minute because they found out everyone hated, but didn’t want to admit….I don’t know, honestly I don’t think I can really trust them now anyway. Even if they miraculously turned over a “new leaf” (<- good game.) I just have this eerie feeling.
You know that feeling someone's watching you or that you're going into the belly of the beast and end up being eaten by being too trusting? Yeah, I'm getting that feeling off the Xbox 180.
It might be good for those who are fans of xbox and I was intrigued by the 1st and 360 ones, but after all this happening when I started to give them a chance? Ehhh no. No Microsoft, I'm not falling for it.
I'm getting a PS4 and unless you show "PROOF" you changed your ways. I'm not going to jump off a cliff unless I'm sure you've harnessed the bungee well; because the Xbone is exactly that! A failed plummet from a very high place".
Also sorry about the wall of text, I just had to let it all out.
Microsoft is the abusive end of a bad relationship.
How it wants to tell you that all your money belongs to him. How it wants to control how/when you interact with friends and family because it doesn’t trust them. How it wants to have cameras set up in your home to watch your every move “for your own safety”.
Well now that you were planning the divorce papers and telling Microsoft you’re going to sleep with Sony…Microsoft comes back with flowers, chocolates, and romantic music to try get you back because “Microsoft loves you”?
BREAK THE CYCLE! If you crawl back to Microsoft now, it’ll turn back into a monster when it thinks it is off the hook and goes back to being drunk on money. DO NOT BUY AN XBOX ONE!
Oh My God! I love your analogy! Fits perfectly! You made me smile. Also, love your icon. I’m quite the L fan myself.
As for the video, I was actually giving up hope on Microsoft. AFter all the criticisms, I thought they would address it right away. Nope, they continued with their policies even at E3, where they were CREAMED by Sony. So, I figured they were going to stick with it until they lose money. But NOW, they are making changes. A little late, but I guess not too late. Honestly, they should have changed their policies right away. Now even Xbox fans are having a hard time trusting them.
And Oh My God, I loved the edits you made of Jack, Fraser! Please put those clips on Youtube…after you make the microphone explode of course. They were hilarious epic. And yeah. throwing a mic is waaaaaay cooler than dropping it!
Actually, I’ve heard that there’s going to be a severe shortage of XBone’s at launch. Apparently, they weren’t able to mine enough FAIL to produce enough systems.
About the XBone online connection:
To me, it’s not a matter of logistics. I can connect to the internet pretty well. My problem is: I shouldn’t have to. Unless the game itself requires an online connection – like if I’m using multiplayer or DLC – then I shouldn’t have to connect at all. The requirement benefits Mi¢ro$o£t, not me, the consumer.
To me, it doesn’t matter if you’re living in a cabin in the woods in the mountains, or on a submarine or foreign military base, or in the middle of a city with the best internet connection available: if you don’t want to have to connect to the internet, you shouldn’t have to. It’s BS any way you slice it.
But as it stands right now, the XBone still has a pointless Kinect requirement. Even though the Kinect is not a thing I care anything in the world about at all, they are still hoping to force me to buy it and use it, even if I don’t want it. I don’t want to spend an extra $100 for their system that comes with Big Brother Bill’s 1984 TV eyeball. Instead, I plan to wait until Mi¢ro$o£t comes to their senses and releases a Kinect-less version of the console at a reduced price. IF I were to get one at all.
Ah, all the arrogance of Microsoft recorded in one convenient place. Whilst it’s good Microsoft has dropped it so we can have some good Console Wars going on. I’m still siding with Sony, probably because I was with them in the first place, but mainly due to their games appealing to me more other anything else. Don’t forget the arrogance Microsoft did and tried. But don’t forget the $599 of Sony either whilst your at it. Thankfully these videos will archive this stuff for the future to know.
Although a 360 gamer myself, I have to agree with you and side with Sony in the upcoming generation. I don’t appreciate M$’s “You’re all just a bunch of shirtless hillbillies anyway” attitude.
And looking back over this past generation, at least to my eyes, it looks like Sony had the better console exclusives anyway. The only reason I’m glad I got a 360 is Skyrim.
