BT Podcast 48: Goodbye Gravity Bone, 9.4 out of 10 based on 8 ratings
Will we talk about video games now? Probably not.
Ellen Page hasn’t groped us… yet.
Things discussed this week include Kaiju, David Lynch, Jon St. John, Ellen Page, BioShock Infinite, Gears of War: Judgment, Dawson’s Creek, Bananas in Pyjamas, and God of War: Ascension.

I am kinda dissapointed in Austin for saying “Monster Hunter is allways the same”. That’s like saying that Zelda is ALLWAYS the same.
It also tells me a lot of how much he played those Games.
As a Continuation of the Context; the PennyArcade Guy said he just didn’t have TIME to get into it. ( and there are a lot fo other good Games around which immediatly pick up)
Which is 2 of the Weaknesses of Monster Hunter: Time intense and slow start with a high learning Curve.
But I gladly agree in saying MonHun is not for everyone.
Goodbye Gravity Bone. You were the Show… how should those other two random People continue on without your wise and sophisticated Input about “Stuff”.
Really intrested in listening to the next Episode
For the record, I totally respect that others enjoy Monster Hunter. It just didn’t click with me. I’m sure my affection for grindy JRPGs is just as unfathomable to other people, so I try not to judge
Well, I was just teasing. But I think that this is an acceptable reply, Yorski.
Gravity Bone! No!
You will be missed. Fare thee well.
I hope that you guys will replace him and if you do that it will be someone who isn’t as much of a gamer like you 2. One of the reasons i like this podcast so much is that it was not always just about gaming, gaming is nice and all but there are other strange geek stuff in the world.
Good look in your podcast future you 2 and make a wise decision.
Or every episode a other crazy guest
Leon you will be remembered deep in our hearts or what’s left of it. I humbly request that as an idea for once Leon should leave pre-recorded message for the podcast to either Austin or Johnny and let them act out as if Leon is there even if the message won’t make sense. Just like in that Simpson episode where Marge made a dummy of Homer and recorded his voice to make the young Bart and Lisa comfortable while Homer was away. Here is a link to a simple fan art I made long time ago I find suitable for this occasion:
I’m skeptical about David Hayter’s reason for not being in MGSV. I’m certain David can’t do Snake’s voice for health reasons since doing the voice does hurt his vocal cord. I’m not sure if it is accurate info though.
the GOW story weren’t great to begin with. There is nothing tragic about Kratos except the people around him especially his family. Personally Kratos makes perfect sense as a villain. Also the gods are morons for making Kratos the god of war in the first place and being passive most of the times.
Johnny claiming to boarding the plane or whatever he said (I’m too lazy replay the video to find out what exactly he said) sounds merely theoretical and impractical. However I believe it should be experimented in order to prove Johnny’s statement. Pictures will not be enough, we need results and critical analysis. Vsauce, Mythbusters or anyone else like them would be awesome to try it out. Also while they’re on it they could try the full Leon with crash test dummies.
On the subject of films here is an intriguing quote by Dziga Vertov a Russian director(1896 – 1954) “I am eye. I am a mechanical eye. I, a machine, am showing you a world, the likes of which only I can see.” It may be familiar with Leon. If not it might be valuable for Leon to check out this director, provided that he reads comments.
Leon, nooo! Don’t leave me!
i love you.
Ouch, guys. You tear down three series I like in the first half! Monster Hunter is definitely not for everyone, but it’s not bad. Taking down giant dinosaur-like creature on your own is immensely satisfying. The whole game is basically nothing but boss fights with no story or “levels” in between, plus some grinding to get badass armors.
And Kingdom Hearts is easier to follow than Metal Gear Solid. Going from game to game it’s pretty easy to follow. It’s kind of weird, but it has its charm. I’m just a little tired of people treating it as a punching bag of sorts.
No More Heroes is awesome, but odd (like most of the stuff Suda51 makes). I think both NMH games were better than Lollipop Chainsaw, and about as good as Shadows of the Damned.
Farewell sweet Gravity Bone, we hardly knew thee. Seriously though, even though Leon didn’t have much gaming news to contribute I appreciated his humor and point of view. I think Austin and Johnny are fun to listen to on their own, so a replacement isn’t NEEDED but if someone could step in who also gives a unique perspective, that would be nice.
alas poor gravity bone, I knew him as the Full Leon
Let’s go full Hamlet on this.
Alas poor Leon! I knew him, Maloney: A fellow of infinite clicking, of most excellent searching: he hath borne the podcast on his back a thousand times; and now, how abhorred in my imagination it is! Here hang those lips that I have listened to I know not how oft. Where be your gibes now? your gambols? your puns? your flashes of merriment, that were wont to set the audience on a roar? Not one now, to mock your own highly unethical jokes? quite gravity boned? Now get you to TGWTG, and tell them, let them make a censoring-box a foot tall, to this favor they must come, make them cringe at that.
OK, that might have been a bit to much but I’m rolling with it.
I liked Army of two the second one. I think its pretty fun co op but that’s about it.
I got more fun out of the first Army of 2 game, it was stupid, but it was funny and made me and my buddy laugh. I think I enjoy crappy co-op games a lot more than some average or even good single player games. Having your friend along makes it fun, but I still wouldn’t give Army of 2 any kind of recommendation.
So Johnny boarding a plane is like the Full Leon without the suspension harness but still in the air?
At high speeds too. Managing the acceleration is pretty tricky.
I know I’m going with the obvious joke here but nonetheless http://imgur.com/LIf64Pe
Things look bleek on this season finale of the BT Podcast. After Mayor Shaun mortally wounded Leon with his stapler gun, who is going to be a bad enough dude to safe the President’s daughter, Allen Page, from the clutches of David Cage?
Will Johnny snap out of his catatonic state after he saw the horrifyingly stapled together corpse of his old companion or will he give in to his desires to eat the mess of flesh, bones and bent metal at his feat after he was locked in the ruins of Rapture for a whole month without any food?
Will Austin finally have married every single character in Fire Emblem so he can have a stake in all this?
And where did Vera Gunn go with the plans for the fusion bomb?
For answers, tune in next time for the thrilling beggining of Season 2 of the BT Podcast! Where “Let’s talk about videogames” is a punchline, not a segueway.
And now, let us dedicate a minute’s silence and all future Full Leons to the Gravity Boner, who paid the ultimate price for the right to sex it up in a really dangerous, convoluted and exciting way.
You heard that right, in a stunning performance, Ellen Page will play Allen Page, a 5 year old girl with an aging disorder to the point where she looks like a 70 year old woman with a 21 year old porn star’s body who was raised as a boy, hence the name Allen.
She was kidnapped by David Cage because he saw that her face was filled with polygons, for which he plans to use in a dark rite to bestow himself with all the emotions!
Meanwhile, will Austin get too fat to be of any use to what remains of the team due to his horrible addiction to pie, or will his his wives help him work it off? Needless to say how will the government react to his polygamy?
See you on the next episode of “The BT Podcast”, “Is the Leon Half-Full or Half-Empty” or “Nowhere To Go But Down On Gaming”.
Hey, you forgot to point out that I wrote feat instead of feet!
Shockingly enough, Hollywood, despite my best attempts to fail horribly at the english language, already accepted my movie idea:
What? July 20th! Austin! Johnny! Start filming/ recording yourselves NOW! We don’t care what you do, we’ll edit in post! Drakonis and I will hammer out the script on a paper napkin!
We also need to procure 41 copies of the life and times of timothy green, 39 penguins, 26 bottles of lotion, 18 Gamecubes containing Cubivore, 13 monkeys, 7 Cabbits or Jackalopes (whichever come first), and Hideo Kojima, David Hayter, and Donald Trump in a pear tree, STAT!
anyone willing to hire a pop culture reference editor? If so I’ll be happy to bring lots of jokes, one liners and crazy plot holes from the works such as Monty Python, The Simpsons, Woody Allen, Gilligan’s Island and much more. I just made that job title simply by saying ‘pop culture reference editor’ is a real job title authenticated by the internet.
This podcast is worthless now! On their own, they are probably going to talk about games.
No, they are going to talk about salad.
they can’t even decide on whether egg salad is really salad without Leon!
this podcast is doomed
They need to ask people on the streets “Do you play video games?” and ask the first person that answers “no” “Who are you” or even “back of before I call the cops” and ask that person to get on the podcast.
At worst Austin will be Baker Acted.
Sad to see Leon go. But seeing as I am probably the Leon of the BTPodcast audience, liking games, knowing them but almost never playing them, i understand where he’s coming from. He could always guest star whenever he happens to play a video game, right?
Promise, last time i will use this stupid poster (but I just have to):
One more thing, between us, Leon: was Dawson’s Creek the reason you became a teacher?
Ps.: PBG as the new co-host. This would be nicely confusing.
A new entry has to be added to the Urban Dictionary now. You’re just hanging there while you jack yourself off.
I was trying to come up with a witty comment on that… but that is just perfect. Just perfect.
Could someone else see to that this time? Last time I needed to submit it 11 times and it led to some grammar/spelling errors.
I know! Let Leon’s wife take his place! ‘TIS THE ONLY NATURAL CONCLUSION!
I’m not 100% sure about this but I believe ‘Monster Hunter’ Games are games where you play as, I guess, bounty hunters that hunt monsters.
It’s also my understanding that the appeal of these games are ‘you pretty much have to find people to help you, or else you won’t succeed’.
But- I haven’t played any of these games, so I don’t know exactly.
First of and most important of all, we will all miss you. AND YOU DIED?! HOW DID YOU GET BACK? DID YOU SEE THE SPACE CHINCHILLA? WHAT DID HE SAY?
7:00- Well, I don’t want it to all com tumbling down, but I do see a lot of things coming to a head, and something knocking the bolts out, and the head falling to the floor with a squishing sound.
9:00- Suda can afford to print the games in Japan, but he needs someone else to get it out anywhere else. I mean he could take a train and deliver most of the pre-orders himself. The guy who made Enemy Zero actually did just that.
21:00- So… Kojima is treating this like Metal Gear to Metal Gear Solid transition.
25:00- Well, characters in anime are voiced by their respective actors usually until death or they just can’t do it anymore.
27:00- It’sa me, Mario! See? Didn’t I sound just like him to you? Anyone can do Mario.
42:00- I’m not sure what Microsoft would do with Gears of War (I don’t expect good things would come of it), or if Epic would make another exclusive series for them.
53:00- Maybe Hades is like Tim Burton. He let’s Johnny Depp kill Helena Bonam Carter all the time.
58:00- I’ll have you know that Colonial Marines was made with polygons! As we all know, more polygons exponentially increases the emotions within a game. Earthbound? No polygons. It’s as emotional as Vertigo, a movie without polygons.
1:02:00- April Fools just grinds video game news to a halt to make jokes about things that SHOULD be made. I want to choose whether or not to destroy the entire city with the press of a button!
You could just choose a random member of the audience. I’m sure that there are those among that do not play video games.
I know I for one wouldn’t mind, I haven’t been playing many games lately. But then again, Nah…
