This is how I picture new listeners to the bt podcast.

Square Enix continues to be stingy with English media for the upcoming Dragon Quest MMO. Luckily, the Wii U version trailer is full of interesting sights and sounds, while not requiring the viewer to speak any Japanese.

It’s been a while since we talked about this game, so let’s refresh our memories, shall we? Dragon Quest X is a traditional subscription-based MMO, unlike the rest of the main numbered DQ titles. In a unique twist, several hours a day will constitute a designated free-to-play time in order to allow children a chance to enjoy it. While the name alone is enough to afford the release massive hype, this business model has raised a lot of eyebrows, resulting in both stock drops and (presumably) a reluctance to fast-track an English release. I guess all we can hope for is that it fares better than SE’s last massively multiplayer project.

Dragon Quest X hits Japanese Wii U’s on March 30th, 2013. No localization information is available at this time.

i’m really not that fond of the Dragon Quest Series… the only game I liked in the series really was 9, and then their off games like Swords, and Monsters Joker. I don’t expect to like the MMO, so not really that excited about it.

Sorry kids, they can’t bring this over until Final Fantasy 13 Lightning Returns – Season 3 Episode 4 Part 7 is finished. So we’ve got a good 47 FF13 games to go before we start seeing other stuff making it state-side. Until then, keep playing All The Bravest.

I was supremely disappointed that the Wii version never made it to the USA; here’s hoping the reasoning behind that was so they could bring over the Wii U version. Watching gameplay videos certainly peaked my interest.

If this comes out to the USA, or even if its a success in Japan. I really hope Nintendo sees the potential of MMORPGs on consoles and makes a Pokemon World MMO.

Hells to the yes. OK Nintendo you talked about wanting to publish third party games that have yet to come out here in the US? Well here is your game. The Wii U titles, this fills a unique slot on the system no other game can, and the DQ games have been proven successes in recent years. Real no brainer here guys. Let’s make it happen.
