ChaosD1

An avid MMO player (not expert. There's a difference) Jon "ChaosD1" Burkhardt is best known for MMO Grinder... Unless you're from TGWTG in which he's that guy who drinks Mountain Dew, collects Jigglypuff items and shows up to scream how things don't work that way in Phelous's videos.

I prefer the term “Skilldrasil” when referring to the skill tree in this game. This video did not really capture just how massive it is. I’m having a hard time just trying to keep track of my end of the tree, as a Ranger. I can go literally any direction and find more bow passives…

There is a skill tree calculator thing on their website, that you can drag around and zoom like google maps, for anyone who is interested in seeing that.

I wish you had made it to act 3 before doing this review. The environments there are completely new!

I’ve played this for about half a year now – first in Closed Beta, now in Open. And it is purely amazing how much better this game is than Diablo 3 or Torchlight 2 (which I played both extensively). That is not saying they are bad, I liked both games, yet D3 has its share of well-known problems and Torchlight 2 was a bit of a disappointment, as it had no complexity to it (despite being much-lauded as the better ARPG, imho for no good reason).

This is, what I hoped D3 would be: A deeply-customizable, character-centred and complex ARPG with fresh ideas.

Some side notes to this review, though: Every character uses the same passive skill tree, just the starting positions are different. And every character can use any skill gem, too. So you are not confined to any play style with any given character. (One of the best parts of Diablo 2, where tinkering with strange ideas was really fun, more so, when that idea actually worked.)

All that’s left to say is: Try out this game, it’s for free and beats many full-priced titles.

So… my money’s on Smite for next episode. There’s something about the end of the video that pushes me towards that direction. Not sure what it is.

The moment I saw that “Skill Web” I knew I had to try this. Many ways to customize your character and the story of being stranded on an island with others; gives a nice touch for survival.

Also I’d prefer this over Torchlight 2. This game seems to be better designed with the player in mind and its really pulls you in in the game’s world.

That and the game downloads astonishingly fast. Even the updates are quick!

Looks nice but still Torchlight 2 is better to me.
