MMO Grinder Backtrack: World of Tanks Update, 9.9 out of 10 based on 10 ratings Backtrack is a supplemental show to showcase the changes made to MMO’s I’ve reviewed previously, (like new classes, interface changes, revamped systems.) Unlike MMO Grinder or Sidequest, Backtrack is not a formatted show, and just covers the changes. Please watch the original reviews to get the full story.

Today in February of 2013, we’ll be revisiting World of Tanks, the arena shooter MMO I reviewed in Episode 16, to report on the new tank tiers and the updated physics system.

ChaosD1

An avid MMO player (not expert. There's a difference) Jon "ChaosD1" Burkhardt is best known for MMO Grinder... Unless you're from TGWTG in which he's that guy who drinks Mountain Dew, collects Jigglypuff items and shows up to scream how things don't work that way in Phelous's videos.

Review’s description of British teir 1′s “more armour for less mobility.” I almost lost it at that part and it made me wonder if at that point you had actually tried those tanks. It’s an honest mistake to think medium=more armour & less manuverability, but what the Mk.I has is actually the leat armour of any teir 1 but the most powerful, yet very inaccurate, gun of the teir. Other than that I find that the review was very well rounded.

That’s my bad. I tend to assume that slow=tough and that T1 would have moved faster if I put the parking brake on, got out, and pushed. Now that I look at the stats it’s a shocking difference.

PS. I think the new engine is amazing as diving from a cliff to kamikaze your enemy as your last despered measure is amazingly fun. It’s not as fun when your the victim though, but it still looks amazing.

I don’t know about team killings. I think it’s just stupid. The credits are more than easy to come by. I have already more than 2 million credits while trying to updrage all my tanks at the same time.. And each match seems to give me ~2000 more.
(I am not a premium, but I never use free exp for anything. So that might be the reason why I have so many credits.)
It is the exps that I’d need. And being killed early in the match makes you earn less exp. It’s frustrating. I think the reason for team kills is that it makes the rest of the guys easier to gain exp (although I think they’d need more help from the team to actually win).. So it’s stupid. Fortunately it doesn’t happen so much on higher tiers..
As for something that you forgot to mention. In the update they changed the way you purchase ammunition. Nowadays it is possible to purchase “gold ammo” also with credits.

I’d wish they would address game balance. You know you’re in for a grand time when you get in your tier 3 tank and you stare down a Churchill III. It’s even worse at some of the higher tiers. Still, most of the additions are good (although the Chinese have a terrible tech tree atm).

I clicked thumbs up but for some reason it said thumbs down BUT oh well…I agree, I don’t think it should be a case where it depends on the tanks you are in because I specialize in the PzKpfw and from what I understand the PzKpfw 38 nA (which is tier 4) can sometimes go up against tier 8 tanks…not exactly a fair fight.

I have noticed something similar.. I have a ELC AMX (Tier V light tank) and sometimes I go against even Tier IX. I’s frustrating, but also gives you a great opportunity to train your strategy. As with against this high tier you cannot really be blamed in case you die. And you hardly cannot fire upon anyone so all you can do is spot and scout.

Guys, guys, I don’t know how experienced you two are but what you both seem to be missing is the fact that the tanks you mentioned are SCOUT tanks. Their MM puts them in high teir matches because they are meant to spot, harrass, and destract targest and artillery. Although the 38nA is a bit underpowered gun wise, the ELC is perfectly capable of taking care of itself in higher teir matches with it’s speed, manuverability, and very powerful gun. Maybe try using your nA like i use my stuart, spot when you can,try to take out enemy scouts, and wait for moments of opportunity when you can exploit gaps and attack arty.
