Enter the tower, if you dare….

It looks like The Last Story will not be the last great Wii game to be released in North America after all. That is because one the perennial savors of the RPG fan on this continent, XSEED, have announced today that in partnership with Nintendo they will be bringing Pandora’s Tower stateside this year. Pandora’s Tower was of course the last of the three games that along with Xenoblade Chronicles and The Last Story Project Rainfall began lobbing Nintendo to release here in NA back in 2011. While their efforts in terms of the latter two was obviously successful, it seemed with the release of the Wii U that the final game of this trio was doomed to never reach these shores.

Thankfully, that is not going to be case after all and now all of us living on this side of the pond can look forward to Pandora’s Tower being released sometime this year. For those not in the know, PT is an action RPG that also was heavily influenced by the Zelda series. The game casts players in the role of a knight who must enter a mysterious monster filled tower in order to slay specific beasts for their flesh. He must do this because his lady love has been cursed and is herself slowly becoming a monster as a result. Only the flesh of the monsters in the tower can halt the transformation and so the knight’s quest begins but more than just monsters may ultimately await… Check out a trailer for the game below:

Pandora’s Tower is currently being aimed for release sometime this Spring in North America by XSEED. No word yet on exactly what this localization will involve but it seems likely as with the other Rainfall games that the UK/EU version of the game will be brought over with a minimum of changes most notably in terms of the vocal tracks. Stay tuned to Blistered Thumbs for continuing coverage of the game and be sure to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

Thank you, XSEED, for being the savior of Operation Rainfall. I may have moved on to the Wii U, but I’m glad this game is finally being released stateside.

Will be getting it. For sure. Operation Rainfall is a total success then? Excellent news so early in the year.

Looking forward to this, but so much for that New Years resolution I made to balance my game money budget better

It’s sad that XSEED has to do Nintendo’s job for them.

Not really, it just shows XSEED is willing to take the risk if the game doesn’t do well.

All the games in Operation Rainfall while all good are also pretty niche outside of Japan. While I have still have to play Xenoblade and The Last Story, its possible the story, characterization, and gameplay elements are highly japanese. Which might not be appreciated to an outside audience. These are things that Nintendo and other international companies consider when possibly making a translation.

      Edit, realized something else.
Something I thought about after they announced the WiiU. Maybe Nintendo was planning to translate the games for the WiiU for international release. It may still be a possibility but time may tell.
