Elder Scrolls Online is looking for brave souls to test out the new Tamriel. Bethesda and Zenimax have announced beta signups today for the upcoming MMO. Zenimax and Bethesda also have another treat for players, a new cinematic trailer, shown below.
Not bad looking, all things considered.
Considering the growing details regarding Elder Scrolls Online, we shall see if the beta signups will be a huge success. No doubt a large number of fans will be biting at the chance to test out the game and put it through its paces, so make sure to sign up today if you have any interest in the title. Sadly, no official start date for the beta has been announced yet, but Bethesda is promising more announcements and updates in the coming months. Also, if you are looking for even more information you can check out the Bethesda Podcast, which has Game Director Matt Firor, Creative Director Paul Sage, and Director of Social Media Jo Burba discussing the beta and answering questions from the fanbase.

As an Elder Scrolls fanboy and an Early decrier for the problems of this game’s setup and the initially-announced WoW clone gameplay mechanics, I signed up to test this as soon as I heard about the beta application. I heard they are making strides with the combat, but I’d still love to have the opportunity to nitpick this game into legendary shape, assuming they’d pay attention to my suggestions during testing.
Sounds like my job…
I am still worried story-wise, but even I have to admit I kinda laxed on my views somewhat on Elder Scrolls.
I’ll admit that I’m not hardcore into the Lore as much as I should be in the Elder Scrolls series, so I probably wouldn’t be as harsh about that on them, but some of the gameplay restrictions like not being able to travel outside of your faction’s area annoy me. Also, I’d love to see ESO shape into a more player-driven than quest-driven experience. Of course, there should be a system to reward doing quests and exploration, but I feel what most MMOs suffer from in my viewpoint is the lack of faith in the players to turn a sandbox into something glorious with the right restrictions that keep griefing and similar actions in control. MMO’s sorely miss the roleplay immersion of singleplayer games, and if ESO ended up pushing that envelope, I’d commend them for it. It’s one of the reasons I’m excited for World of Darkness.
I actually wasn’t enthused by the trailer. Cinematic trailers have no bearing on what the actual game play entails. To many times has a mediocre game been endorsed by an amazing cinematic trailer… I want actual game play before I allow my hype meter to explode.
That being said I’m still frenetic about this title. I’ve been voraciously consuming any information that is available . Signed up for the beta and hoping that they create one of the best experiences for the series and genre.
Now that the trailer is up all I can say is that it was very impressive and well done. I hope that the game goes well it’s making me wish I had a a gaming computer or the money to get one that and guild wars 2 plus a few others.
Heads up the video was taken off youtube.
I linked the trailer again, hopefully it stays up longer this time.
