This game is glorious. It appears to have little to no story, but the telling of it actually comes through the players’ own actions. The lack of narration actually benefits the game, which isn’t usually the case. The final colossus’s music aids the telling, as well. It’s brilliantly executed.
People like to say that because they tend to inflate things they like, but 1. the player has no choice of action and 2. no actions go beyond firing arrows and plunging your sword. It’s the music (every colossus kill is accompanied by music that evokes a sense of loss) and cinematics that tell the story proper, they’re just sparse is all.
Nice review, really liked it, I played this game twice, once on the PS2 back in 06, and once on the HD collection for the PS3 a few months ago, and not only it’s artistically beautiful, but it’s also highly entertaining and challenging to some degree , and I highly recommend anyone to play it by any means. (Playing the HD version of course is recommended, if possible)
FIRST!
And man did I love this game growing up. The scenic world and marvelous collusi made me enjoy this game.
