The next two pieces of footage for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn have arrived and this time they are looking at some of the building blocks of any MMMO. Literately. That is right, first up on the docket is a video that lays out how crafting and gathering will be working in this brave new old world. And while not the most groundbreaking take on the concept ever, I will say that at least XIV is attempting to try and shake things up a little bit on this front and bring its own flavor to the table. The second video meanwhile leaves behind such peaceful pursuits in favor of that other staple of MMOs: combat. Group combat to be precise as the Square Enix highlights several encounters en masse with the game’s larger enemies. Also highlighted in the video are the special sidequests players will be able to undertake outside of the story progression of their current character. Check out both videos below:

After playing Tera, GW2 etc. these boss fights look so boooring. You just stand still and click on your skills until it’s dead …
The way the bosses giggle after being attacked looks just silly.
It’s looking amazing. Also everyone needs to remember that it’s still just in Alpha. If you compare it to WoW Alpha it is shitloads better.
I wouldn’t exactly call it awesome – looks fine, but many current MMOs look better (some of them a lot better).
At least assuming we are talking about the graphics. Can’t really comment on the rest.
It looks really pretty. Sadly it looks boring as hell too.
Looks like a huge step foward, but I still looks like it has a lot of untapped potenctial.
