    as to the question of there names about half way through…
    “Toe Jame and Earl were originally named Flow Jam and Whirl. When designer Greg Johnson told programmer Mark Voorsanger their names Mark misunderstood what Greg was saying and programmed them in the game as Toe Jam and Earl. It wasn’t until they showed the game to Sega that Greg realized the names were incorrect, but since Sega actually liked the names, they decided to keep them.”
