Lotus Prince Let’s Play: Berserk for the PS2 (Complete)!, 5.3 out of 10 based on 6 ratings

Get ready for a fantastic game that’s based on a fantastic manga, which has been going on for over twenty years. This game puts the manga into animated form, and it is GLORIOUS! Let’s! Go! CRAZY!

NOTE: This game takes place from volumes 22 to 26 of the manga, plus a chapter or two of volume 27. If you are reading the manga, and do not wish to be spoiled, stop watching now. Also, the first video is my summary of volumes 1-12 of the manga (up to the Eclipse), with the game’s opening cinematic at the very end. The actual gameplay starts on the second video. Even if you know how the manga goes, I still recommend that you watch the end of the first video, if only for the glorious song that goes with the opening cinematic.

This video is a playlist!  Once it loads, you can click to any installment you wish, or simply let them play continuously!

You got a few details in your intro wrong that I’d like to point out.
    1. Rickert wasn’t there for the Eclipse, but he is a surviving member of the Band of the Hawk. He’s semi-important and got left out.
    2. Susumu Hirasawa didn’t do the opening or ending for the Berserk anime, but he did the rest of the soundtrack.
    3. Hirasawa did the opening, ending and the rest of the entire soundtrack of Paranoia Agent.
    4. You left out some things I thought were at least a little important from the Golden Age summary like Wyld and Griffith’s speech to Charolette that Guts overheard that was the main catalyst for him wanting to leave.

I really liked the intro you gave save for those few hiccups. I haven’t started watching the Let’s Play yet, but I’m about to and I’m looking forward to it.

Thanks a lot for the updates! I must admit that, aside from the Hirasawa flub, where I just plain didn’t do my research, the other information I missed was because I was going entirely by memory, and I haven’t read the Golden Age arc since college, so my memory was a bit spotty. My main objective was to get the viewers accustomed to who was who in the game. I actually totally forgot about Wyld and Griffith’s speech to Charlotte, but at least I got the horrible torture part down, I guess. :-P

I love how at the loading screen there is a prompt saying “press R2 to use your berserk-meter” and your all like “Yeah we already know about that.” And then you proceed to NEVER use this ever while playing the game. I mean c’mon man.. XD

Yeah, I’m one of THOSE players.

I have fifteen rockets! Better not use them in case something big comes up! *proceeds to die repeatedly, due to not using rockets on the big things that actually come up*

Is it just me or does the ‘Snow Man’ ((aka the very first thing that he fights) look a lot like the ‘Great and Mighty Poo’

I can tell the game loads alot faster from the HDD but not everyone has a phat ps2 so I understand that mifgr not have been an option.

This game and Zone of the Enders 2 was the best games I played last genereation. .. And God of War 2.

Now could someone PLEASE write the developers a blank check and make the currentgen game that fans deserve?!

I have a slim PS2. It’s apparently easier to mod than a fat one, though the fat one might have a better loading time as a result. I don’t mind; it works, and the loading time isn’t crazy.

And Zone of the Enders 2 and God of War 2 are god damn amazing!

It would have been nice to mention too that before being the “Black swordman”, Guts was called “the hundred killer” during his time in the band of the hawk, because he killed a troup of a 100 people by himself to protect Casca, hence showing how much he loves her.

Sorry about the bragging but I’m a huge berserk fan and your story telling is quite good but these are major plot holes.

Man, you forgot too that after the rape Casca get pregnant from both Guts and Femto, giving birth to a thing that will later become Griffith new earthly body…

    Come on…

One more, in the eclipse, Guts doesn’t cut his arm just to get free. He does it because Griffith/Femto is raping Casca, the woman he loves and he does it to save her. Man these things are major…

Nice but you forgot a major point in the plot. It’s the friendship between Guts and Griffith, after the duel, Griffith says to Guts that now he belongs to him. And after a while Guts becomes Griffith right hand, his “sword” so to speak, hence provoking Casca jealousy. And Guts is sure they are friends. And yes Guts don’t feel like he belongs to the band of the hawks but he doesn’t leave because he feel like it. He leave because he overheard Griffith speaking to Charlotte, saying that he has no friends, that a friend would be his equal with his own dream to pursue, and that is what decide Guts to leave, become he want to become worthy of Griffith friendship. It does explain why Griffith snap after the duel because he lose his “sword” which is shown by the fact that Guts break his sword in the duel, hence leaving him without arms when the king comes to get him. This a major omission sir… Some might even say that Griffith saw Guts as his lover.

My introduction is nearly a half hour long as it is. I only described what viewers would need to know in order to understand the events of the PS2 game. Guts and Casca’s child is an irrelevant detail, in this case. Of course it’s a big deal in the manga, but it is never addressed in the PS2 game, and so I did not think that it was worth mentioning. The same goes for Guts being the “hundred killer.” We can see that within the first couple of minutes of gameplay, as he’s killing demons left and right. I can’t summarize the entire manga; at that point, I might as well just read it out loud for the audience. All I did was bring players up to speed. I’m Let’s Playing a game that doesn’t speak a word of English, and it starts in the middle of a series. I need to explain things to the viewers, sure, but I’m not going to take multiple hours to do so. I feel that I got across what I needed to.

Also, regarding Guts cutting his arm off to escape, yes, it was also for Casca, but I did mention that Femto raped her, so perhaps that detail could be inferred. Even if it couldn’t, you can’t say that I was wrong, regarding what I did say.

Yeah, the basic combat is cool, but very repetitive. It’s all about the glorious, glorious boss fights. :)
