Better With Wii U? - Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed

SEGA brings the thunder and gets struck by technical difficulties.

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Review

Sonic might be handicapping himself, but this game's still a lot of fun.

This game also has an upper-hand on Mario Kart, currently, due to Mario Kart 7 being restricted to a hand-held and the the last console Mario Kart being over 4 and a half years old.

I do have to appreciate the irony of this game though. It pays homage to all these old Sega series but is released on the heels of Sega saying they plan on limiting their production of other series and focusing on Sonic titles.

There are 2 reasons they toned down the All Stars this time.

    1. So that they can all work Online this time, since the All Stars couldn’t in the first game.
    2. As cool as it would be to see, some transformations just don’t work in the various Car/Air/Flight modes. Beat and Gum sorta can’t Skate in Mad-Air now, can they? (This is also my reason for why Sonic is in the car, I don’t recall him getting the ability to fly now, do you?)

Overall loving this game. Whilst some might brand it as Mario Kart Clone… that pretty much what every kart racer in existince get. And this lives up to the stuff like Crash Team Racing and Diddy Kong Racing that surpass Mario Kart. Not only does this game remind you of all your Favourite Sega Games. It can also live up to them as an extremely strong game in it’s own regard.

I recently picked this game up for my Wii U. I was blown away by how fun, vibrant and eye catching it was. The only negative comments I have about it are the fact that there are so few tracks based on the Sonic Universe. Specifically the classic games (Especially Sonic 3/w S&K) along with their soundtracks. That I just don’t understand. I hope they fix that with DLC.

The other problem I have is that, I find that the flying controls are a little stiff. Other than that, I couldn’t be happier with this title. I too am a huge Sonic fan (NOT Fanboy)
