Playing with friends, joking and talking over the game kinda ruins the experience of Silent Hill 2.
so glad you guys are playing the PS2 version and not that crappy HD train-wreck.
i wish they would have kept going though. i would have loved to see their reaction when everything starts to unravel and make sense.
stopping not even halfway through, it seems like they just gave up and all the puzzles gave them a poor first impression.
i will say this though, games like this really do remind you that last gen games were a lot more complicated. they more often used puzzles/riddles, they did a lot to make you think, they had more complicated controls, etc. games today are very watered down and simplified.
also, as a huge SH fan (of only the original 4), this video also shows why i hate what’s happened to the series, and how excessive fan servies has ruined characters and the overall meaning of… well, everything.
take for example PH. just doing a google image search brings up fan art thats 90+% of the movie version. of course the movie version has no meaning, no depth, he was just the result of fan service. now he is the PH people associate with. he then gets put in SH:HC and they further simplify him. now people only see him as that awesome killing machine bad-ass.
and when they see him for the first time where he was originally created, all of a sudden questions arise. “why is his helmet like that?” “why is he doing that?” “whats he doing?” “this isnt PH”
ill stop myself here before i go off on an hour long rant.
last comment though is that i wish they would have left the chat open only to die-hard SH fans for this one. the chat was not helpful at all, and actually slowed them down ALOT by giving them false info and guesses half the time.
You do realize that this is only the first of many sessions they’re going to have with this game, right? Playing through the entire SH2 in one sitting blind would be an absurd demand. They’ll return to the game when their schedule and mood allows.
yeah, i know what you mean. i just get excited over this game. i just hope they get back to it soon.
in the meantime, its gotten me in the mood to play again. i might throw it in my PS2 over the weekend.
i was just worried because they didnt seem to be enjoying a lot of it and didnt mention continuing it. (i keep thinking back to their duke nukem video, but at the end of that they openly said they were done and werent having fun, so i hope this is different)
