Scribblenauts Unlimited on Wii U to Feature Nintendo Characters, 9.0 out of 10 based on 1 rating

Nintendo characters look good in just about any style (CD-I does not count) which is a testament to their designs.

It looks like Nintendo outfits and paraphernalia crossing the line and showing up in third-party Wii U games may just be the new norm. That is because an announcement today revealed that the Wii U version of Scribblenauts Unlimited will be joining Tekken Tag Tournament 2 in getting some of that sweet, sweet Nintendo loving. However SU is actually taking things a step further and will be getting the characters themselves along with all their wonderful toys.

In a press release from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, it was confirmed that characters from both the Mario series and The Legend of Zelda series will be included exclusively in the Wii U version of Scribblenauts Unlimited. According to the release:

Press Release Excerpt
Players will delight in producing fantastical and sometimes hilarious interactions between the Mario and Legend of Zelda characters and objects, alongside everyone’s favorite word-wielding Scribblenauts adventurer, Maxwell. Discovered Nintendo characters and objects will behave in the fun and fantastical ways they do in their respective game worlds.

There is one catch however, namely that players will not be able to apply adjectives to the Nintendo characters. Still its a fun addition to a game already packed to the gills with possibilities for mischief and lunacy. I know I for one cannot wait to set up the Mario/God/Cthulhu brawl-for-it-all of my dreams. To be clear, the Nintendo characters will only be in the Wii U version of Scribblenauts Unlimited; neither the PC nor the 3DS version will include them. Scribblenauts Unlimited launches for all three systems in the US on the same day as the Wii U itself does, November 18. Be sure to share to what kind of fun you want have with Nintendo characters in the world of Maxwell and endless word combinations in the comments section below and be sure to stay tuned to Blistered Thumbs for continuing coverage of all things Wii U.

I was already thinking of getting this game, but the inclusion of the Nintendo characters makes this a definite for me.

We can’t apply adjectives to them, but other things still work right? We still can Create Link, Put Link on Epona, Attach a Rocket to Epona and then fly them to the Moon before the 3 days are over to save the world, right?

Basically you cannot use the object editor on the Nintendo characters but you should still be able to interact with them in all the other normal ways. And of course they will all have their own unique properties as well. Me, I just hope that giant pig Gannon from Ocarina is included. Because man… Would he be fun to play with. :)

It still stinks we can’t play with a ‘giant angry smelly flying yellow polkadot princess peach’ Why would they stop adjectives? Are they afraid people would do something with the adjectives that would make Nintendo look bad? What logical reason could they possibly have besides wanting to be killjoys?

Huh… For Scribblenauts’ art style, I was thinking some other Nintendo characters might be more appropriate… *noms on a hamburger retrieved from the trashbin, complete with fuzzy pickles* Though, with how often they like to act like unsaid series doesn’t exist, I suppose it shouldn’t be surprising. Don’t mind me if I pass this over to do more Rockin’!

“players will not be able to apply adjectives to the Nintendo characters” Why would they limit one of the cooler things that you can do with Scriblenauts? In Mario’s case it would even make sense to have a ‘Giant Mario’. Curse you arbitrary limitations! CURSE YOU!

Maybe they couldn’t get the rights to Metal Mario or Dark Link or Brave Luigi?
