Will it be worth the wait? Undoubtedly, but that makes it no easier all the same.

Unfortunate news for any would-be Wii U owner looking forward to the release of Rayman Legends: the title has been officially delayed until sometime in the Q1 of 2013. Additionally, this delay applies to the title worldwide, which means that Legends will no longer be a launch day title for the Wii U in Europe and the UK. At this point reasons for the delay remain vague beyond a Ubisoft stating a desire to make the game exceed even the high expectations that many players already have for it. Their brief statement on the matter follows in full:

Rayman Legends will now launch worldwide in the first quarter of 2013. We’re happy that fans are excited about the game, and we are taking the time to make sure we deliver a game that lives up to and hopefully exceeds their expectations. We’ll have more details to share soon.

The remaining upcoming launch day titles from for Wii U from the publisher, which consists of ZombiU, Assassin’s Creed III, and Just Dance 4, remain set for release alongside the console. This delay brings the total number of launch day titles for the Wii U in Europe and the UK on November 30 to 12; the US launch day lineup for Nov 18 meanwhile remains at 23. Stay tuned to Blistered Thumbs for continuing coverage of all Wii U news as it develops and be sure to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

Actually, this might work better for it. This way, it won’t drown under all the November releases like the first game was last year and sell poorly, hopefully now it has it’s own gap to stand out.

…Unfortunately, the next “NEW” Super mario bros game will be out then and people might not want to try out another platformer. So not sure if this will effect it or not sales wise.

Gameplay wise? More time to create game = better polished game. So when the end product arrives all should be good.

Ummm… You are being sarcastic about the next New Super Mario Bros. game, right? Because otherwise… Well I mean the next NSMB game will have already been out for several months even if Rayman Legends were to arrive in January. So I am not really sure what point you are trying to make.

NSMB has already been out for years. The Wii U version is exactly like the Wii version nor worse, nor better.

However I’m still sad that this is a Wii U exclusive. I will be getting a Wii U but not yet. I mean I could buy it in November but it’s current library isn’t good enough for me. There is not a single game that I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want to play. That will change once we have a new Zelda, Metroid and a new Crystal Chronicles. Please… Square… Please… Rayman Legends and Bayonetta 2 are games I’d want to play but not enough to make me want a new System. So I’m hoping for a multi-plat release in the future.

        maybe…
