New Disgaea Game Set to Bring Back Some Familiar Faces,
Disgaea fans, good news abounds. That is because the latest game in this now ten year-old series has been announced. Intended to celebrate a decade of demonic silliness, Disgaea D2 will not only be the latest full game in the series, but it also will see the return of Laharl as the main character, with Etna and Flonne by his side again as always. Nor is this just another remake of the first game, as it will act as a direct continuation of the story of this tenacious and tricky trio. So get ready for a whole new set of shenanigans as the original would-be Demon Overlord prepares to take center stage once again.
For those wondering, the D in Disgaea D2‘s title apparently stands for a dimension as a wall and “wanting to break through the wall to reach a new source of fun.” At the event where the game was announced, the Japanese voice actresses for Etna and Flonne respectively joked that the D also stood for “Destiny” and “Dramatic” as well. The game will arrive for PS3 in Japan on March 20th, 2013. An international release has yet to be confirmed but remains all but certain based on the past history of titles in the series. Check out the Japanese teaser site here. There is not much to it yet, but the music on the site alone is enough to make a visit worthwhile. Count on Blistered Thumbs to stay on top of Disgaea D2 as more information becomes available and be sure to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

Im holding tears back right now. I been wanting a upgraded version on the first game ever since D3 came out but a direct sequal. YES YES YES!
A part of me is fangirling like crazy cause these three are awesome, yet a small part of me is worried because of it maybe being like a rehash or ruined by too much fan pandering or something.
Though, I guess that’s a common reaction with stuff like this. I probably shouldn’t worry.
Nice! Laharl was always one of my fave protagonists. I never really liked Etna at all. I wished there was a way to execute her in the original game. I am curious though, what ending does it follow? I.E. Whats the ‘cannon’ ending? Is it Flonne? Or Devil Flonne? That pic looks like Devil Flonne
You know i never played any of the ones after 2. I played 3 for like an hour or two but disliked all the characters. I bought but never played 4 either. Hopefully this brings back the old magic
She probably changed back into her old outfit.

Sweet. In my opinion, The trio of Laharl, Etna, and Flonne always won over the other protagonists. Something about the three of them really worked together. Them also being around much longer than the others kinda helps.
Let’s see. Judging on just the above picture, I see 4 new faces. They could either be more new classes or new characters all together.
Anyway, I couldn’t help but notice the clothing designs for Etna and Laharl changed a bit. Laharl’s pants are no longer short-shorts, they extend to his ankles, and seem tigher than before. Etna no longer has a skirt and she now wears something that looks kinda bloomer-like, very short-shorts even (forgive me if there’s a word for that kinda of clothing, I currently don’t know it).
It’s nothing major, just off-putting after seeing them unchanged for so long.
Damn it, I need to hurry and get to finishing Disgaea 4
See, my problem with the games following 1, was that it kind of threw out the character development Laharl, Etna and Flonne had received by the end of the game in favor of just focusing on their more humorous traits. It just rubbed me the wrong way, like the entire gambit in the first game did nothing to actually change Laharl.
Maybe I’m looking for too much from the disgaea series, it’s supposed to be light hearted and funny and not make total sense. I just felt like 1 was the only one in the series to really get both the humor and story down in the right amount of way to still tell this very interesting plot that actually caused the characters to age and learn from their experiences.
Looks like Laharl will finally get that sequel he’s wanted since the first bonus battle he’s in.
Sweet! Laharl and crew were a blast in the first one. Far preferable to the cast of the second, personally.
…damn, I need to get a PS3 already. This’ll make three new Disgaea games I just can’t play without one.
I can’t squee loud enough for this.
I wonder where the sequel will pick up.. since by Disgaea 4 Flonne is a good angel again.
My best guess is the story will take place in an alternate dimension where neither Etna or Flonne left Laharl’s side…or something like that. Hence the Dimension 2 in the title.
Hmm.. sorry, like i said i havent played any beyond D2, and even that i dont think i finished. When did Etna or Flonne leave Laharl’s side? Well, Etna’s not surprising. THat back stabbing skank sucks, but Flonne?
