Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Shows off Nintendo Connectivity the Quirky Way, 10.0 out of 10 based on 1 rating
Now for one night only!
Monster Hunter fans will be happy to learn that Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate has some sweet new interconnectivity going on between the upcoming 3DS and Wii U version’s of Capcoms popular RPG series. But rather than let me explain them to you in detail, I will let Kayamba and Cha-Cha take the wheel from here.
Well, that was fun, right?
In all seriousness, I do like the idea behind having the same saved character between the two versions of the game. I also think the connectivity does give Monster Hunter more longevity, especially in the U.S where the series is not as widespread or popular as it is in Japan. Plus adding connectivity between the 3DS and Wii U is a very viable strategy for the hardcore Nintendoites out there. We shall see if it pays off, but I am sure it won’t matter for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate fans when the games hit in 2013.
The only sad thing here is that this apparently means you can’t use the 3DS version for online play.
It won’t be a matter if you have both versions and systems (in fact, then you should be able to play with a buddy even if he doesn’t have the game himself!), but for those who aren’t planning to get a WiiU or aren’t willing to pay for essentially the same game twice it’s kind of a downer.
Though I’m not sure if I’m going to get 3 Ultimate at all, already played Tri a lot on my Wii. Depends on how much they change things up.
they made no changes to the formula or gameplay in that version: Ultimate give you 2 Things; Better Graphics and about four times more Monster Types to hunt than Trii.
If you want changes and maybe improvments, you will have to wait for Monster Hunter 4 which adds 1 or more new Weapon Types and Fighting on Walls + grabbing onto Monster.
Actually, the low amount of different Monster Types compared to some of the other games was one of my biggest gripes against Tri in the first place, so maybe I’ll check it out.
Thanks for the info!
Also, are you sure they don’t add any weapon types from older games? IIRC Tri lacked the Bow but I’m not sure if that’s true for Ultimate. That would also mean MH4 actually “adds” 2 weapons types (the bow and that spear/staff/bugthrowing-thing).
Well that was…interesting. Though it was a nice, concise explanation of the interconnectivity. I am so looking forward to this! No one I know plays Monster Hunter anymore…

Yeah, they did re-add a bunch of weapons that got cut from Tri into Ultimate, like the bow, which has a new attack that rains shots down on enemies.
Oh my god, that was adorable and funny.
