A LP of Fatal Frame 4! <3 I'd squee out loud, but I'm afraid the neighbours will start to worry (because I might very well never stop)! I've played all the other FF (or Project Zero for us Europeans) and have been raging forever that the fourth one never really made it out of Japan! So this is going to be such a treat!

You, sir, are awesome and have the greatest taste in video games ever! :D

^_^ Nice play through, I loved Fatal Frame 2 when I played it. Fatal Frame 3 I never got to finish due to it being a little too hard for me. And Fatal Frame itself I could never find, so I quite appreciated all of your Let’s Play’s on these. Especially this one, as I didn’t know it existed until 2 days before you posted it.

It’s too bad they never released it. Has a neat storyline and some really creepy scenes. Those long hallways with billowing curtains, the whole time I kept expecting there to be someone behind them about to jump out at you.

Yeah, Fatal Frame 3 was the hardest one, for sure.

FF4 is a bit buggy, which may be why it didn’t make it here, but I love the game. It really works. :)

      Thanks for your support!

I have a few friends that got sooo pissed at Nintendo for not realeasing this outside of Japan… but after watching the LP I kind of understand. It feels kind of out-of-place within the series. Three pretty much wrapped it all up… and is the story amazingly confusing or is it me that failed to cennect all the dots in it?

Well, the best I can hope for is taking a look at it myself through an emulator, so maybe I will miss what it is that makes the game interesting (no Wiimote, voice coming out of the controller, etc). Anyway, another nice LP ^^

The first 3 were only loosely tied together by character name dropping or cameos. 4 didn’t have any of that, which is probably why it felt disconnected.

However, the gameplay was far better than any previous installment, IMO, and was able to have scarier moments as a result. However, I have yet to play Fatal Frame 3: The Tormented, which is, from what i hear, the scariest one.

Most people just have better memories to Crimson Butterfly because there was better marketing for it. No other Fatal Frame got as much marketing, so it’s turned into many people’s favorite title in the series as well as why it got remade for the Wii as opposed to the first one. The third one had a very limited release.

Long story short, they’re all good and I am happy to see Nintendo co-owns the license now, giving Nintendo exclusive rights to the single-most scariest console horror experience anyone can ever have.

The gameplay in 4 is the best, but it feels to easy with the tracking ability (which you have to perfect Mission Mode in the first FF to get – you START with it here).

I don’t know if FF3 is the scariest, but it’s certainly the most difficult.

Even the biggest Fatal Frame fans seem to admit that 4 is WAYYYY to easy and insane with the “setups” to the scares.

Even goes out of its way with Wii gimmicks and just “suddenly screaming ghost covers screen” type of stuff.

Not anything like it used to be..

It’s still a solid game, but it’s buggy in some areas. There’s a gamebreaking area somewhere, if you don’t play the game the way it wants you to play, and a couple of ghosts are simply impossible to get.

      Thanks for your support!

Well I saw it only on the Wiki-site of it.
Bringig it on the wii would have made sense since of the wiimote.

Still not releasing it here and northamerica pissed me off.
      Like Mother3.

Gawd! Why does Japan hoard all the good games? D:

I did a LP of this last year. It was my first LP I’ve ever done, but it’s slowly gaining an audience.

For halloween, I’m doing Fatal Frame 2 for the Wii and just finished RE0.

Most people watch my channel for the UMvC3 videos, though… but if anyone is interested, check out KagatoTheFinalBoss.

At some point I’ll get FF2 for the Wii as well. Hopefully it’ll play on an HDTV, because it sure won’t play on an American CRT.

I’ll watch it when you do. I always like to see someone else’s take on it.

It’ll play on an HDTV just fine. At least it plays on mine alright.

I’m honestly not sure if I should LP that one, as I’ve already done the regular version of FF2. Is the Wii version that different? Maybe I could just do its extra mode, or something.

The gameplay is the same as in Fatal Frame 4. Also, there are a lot of moments where you can explore things like mirrors and drawers using the “hold A to investigate” scare build-up. So in a sense, it made the game scarier IMO.

As for major story changes, there are none. It’s pretty much the same Crimson Butterfly. But because of the new gameplay perspective and minor features, I say it’s the superior version.

It also has a Haunted House sim very much like Juon The Grudge Game.

Yeah, my friend actually surprised me with the existence of 3. I didn’t have a PS2 at the time, so I had no idea. But a fourth? That blew my mind back when I found out. :)

If you’re interested in the other FF games, I LP’d them as well. They’re in my archive, which can be found through the link below the video and above the title cards. :)
