Capcom Promises Everything on RE6′s Disc is Free DLC, 7.0 out of 10 based on 3 ratings

Ada is skepitical of the news, but wouldn’t mind the extra hand defeating B.O.W.S

A few days ago, I wrote about how modders had found extra content on Resident Evil 6‘s disc. Well today, Capcom has issued an announcement that two pieces of content–the “No Hope” Difficulty and the ability to play Ada’s campaign from the beginning of the game with a co-op partner–will not cost anything, but require a download to finish the code. The paid DLC, which includes new multiplayer modes, that is coming (first to the Xbox 360, then to the PS3) is not on the disc at all. This does clash with modder claims that Survivor, Predator, and Siege ARE partially on the disc, but to be fair, none of these modes were finished enough to be completely playable and only basic information about trophies and game modes were confirmed for a couple of these modes.

However, I am glad that Capcom is releasing free content and at least taking a step towards a better DLC policy. While I didn’t care for Resident Evil 6, I am interested in seeing how Ada’s campaign, which I felt was the highlight of the game, works with a second player. Please share your thoughts in the comments below and keep following Blistered Thumbs for all the latest gaming news. The free DLC does not have an official release date but, according to Capcom, will be released, “soon.”

The different color EX2 versions are already free but through RE.net

I have a suspicion that they will charge for the low-bit version, though.

As much Capcom screwed the peverbial pooch on this Gabriel, I really can’t say I am surprised. Many game companies are doin this now as it seems to be cost effective for them. Is it wrong? Yes, but that’s how business works in the gaming world now.

free or not, did they just release it without finishing the game they were making?! are we going to expect in the future they start to sell full priced $60 unfinished games that comes with later unspecified date free dlc to complete it?

I’m indifferent to it at this point, but regardless of whether Capcom intended to have the on-disc DLC be free or not, the perception of a lot of people on this situation will be that Capcom got caught with their hand in the proverbial cookie jar and is trying to make amends for it.

    Can’t make the fans happy.

Bottom line and I think we all know this is that capcom should have went “RE6 has on game DLC that will be for free.” in the very first place.

They didn’t, it was found, so now what? Did they change there mind are they telling the truth?

The MAJOR point here is this. It’s free. Its not paid, its free. And if they lie then charge for it then you can gank/rush/zerg them into oblivion.

“Capcom promises.” Yeah… I’m not buying it.. I haven’t trusted Capcom for most of this generation.

Honestly, I don’t believe them. I think they intended to charge for it and were arrogant enough to think that it wouldn’t be found on the disc before they had the chance. However, since they were caught, they decided to give it away for free to spare themselves the shit-storm.

See, this was why I didn’t have much thought on this before since we had no idea what was actually going to be done with the content, whether it was going to be Free, Charged or not used at all.

As of now, good to hear it’s free. Lets see if they carry on the trend with future games. Probably not going to be interested in the new DmC (Although I never had interest in any DmC game in the first place) but I’m interested in how Remember Me will turn out.
