Behold the Awesomeness of Dudebro II!, 10.0 out of 10 based on 3 ratings

A fight for the ages!

Normally I do an introductory paragraph before the trailer but that would hurt the experience. Instead, let’s just watch:

What you just witnessed was the Trailer for Dudebro II, a game that satirizes many of the tropes and game mechanics found in shooters (like making fun of the two-weapon limit found in games like Duke Nukem Forever or giving you the ability to skip minigames). The game is made by Grimoire Assembly Forge, a small development team made up of NeoGAF members. Dudebro II is their first game and will be FREE when it is released in the nebulous time of “soon.” As the trailer shows, John St. John, the voice of Duke Nukem, does lend his voice to the main character of the game, Dudebro. The game looks like a lot of fun and I look forward to shooting rockets to use as platforms so I can gear up for a fight with a giant trucker polar bear.

Holy crap! I’m surprised GAF are still working on this game?

for those who never heard of this game before, here’s how the idea of the game started two years ago, straight from their Wikia page:

“Dudebro began with an offhand comment by a user named Cuyahoga in a thread with a topic about Babyz Fashion on the NeoGAF forum. The same user made up a title meant to insult another user when he was being accused of being a pedophile. The title was a source of inspiration, and the NeoGAF users Jocchan, Thetrin and Mik2121 took the initiative in the actual conception of the game. They were then followed by a large number of posters who began discussions, collaborating on the ideas and assets for a real game.[8] Eventually, Will Goldstone (who wrote a book on Unity) became involved with programming.[2] The NeoGAF users were able to get Jon St. John to voice Dudebro. St. John is notable for being the voice actor for the character Duke Nukem in the Duke Nukem game franchise.[9] The game is expected to be completed and released in summer 2010.[2] Currently, Dudebro’s application source code is open to all NeoGAF members who are willing to contribute to the game’s improvement. The team is currently looking for new members to speed up the production of visual assets”

Who would’ve thought a petty messageboard thread about a girly DS game would be responsible for the creation of the manliest web browser based game? XD

So the game is 8-bit but will still be voiced? Also, just to be completely sure, the II in Dudebro II is part of the joke and there is no Dudebro I, right? Right? Ok.

I’m surprised when he was stacking boxes to climb up that wall he didn’t just say “***k it!” and shoot the wall until the wall became a nice ramp for him to walk up saying “Box stacking puzzles are for pussies” It would certainly fit with the theme of the game.

After Duke Nukem said that power armor is for pussies while walking around with regenerative health, a sentence like that lost all its impact.

That’s the point, where Duke Nukem said that about power armor, despite having a health system very similar to Halo, they could’ve made Dudebro actually practice what he preaches and just make a way to climb the wall with bullets instead of boxes.
