Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is the sequel for the first racing game of the SEGA Superstars series.

And it’s Patrick in the lead with a blue hedgehog and a member of the GGs close behind!

In just a little over a month, gamers will finally be able to play Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, a racer that has characters from some Sega’s most famous franchises racing each other in transforming vehicles through large, colorful, tracks. Although NASCAR driver Danica Patrick’s involvement in the title was revealed a while ago, this trailer is her official debut in the game.

Yes, in what seems like a strange partnership, Sega has teamed up with Mattel and their Hot Wheels brand to bring professional racer Danica Patrick to the game in a transforming “Danicar.” A die-cast version of the car will be sold alongside the game at select retailers. While the idea may still seem strange, Sega does have a reason, as given by Marcella Churchill, the Senior Marketing Director of SEGA of America in the following statement:

“Using Danica Patrick’s existing relationship with Mattel and Hot Wheels, we were able to extend our brand beyond the Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed game universe and into consumer products with the creation of this custom toy. The Hot Wheels brand has a reputation for developing beloved childhood toys and our partnership will undoubtedly ignite this nostalgia amongst fans when they get to race this transforming vehicle within the game.”

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will be available on November 18, 2012 for Nintendo Wii U, on November 20th for the Xbox 360 and PS3, and on December 11th the game will be released for the 3DS and the PlayStation Vita. The PC version of the game will be released sometime this holiday season. So, what are your thoughts? I typed this sentence before checking out other comments here because I was expecting them to be “Sega fanboy rage” comments and 3 seconds later…I was…surprisingly wrong.

Anyway, Danica’s “just another character” to race as and is fine by me. After all, Vyse (and possibly Ristar) are in the game, so I’m happy. If they added Aoi Umenokouji and Pai Chan as a “dual” racer, I’d faint.

Ristar is confirmed to Flagman, not a racer (Still better than nothing in my honest opinion) main reason is because Ristar is a bit too boring to look at from behind all the time. Also, dual racers are supposably not likely due to it being too hard to manage them both with all the transforming parts of the vehicle.

That said, there are 7 more Sega Characters to confirm I believe, and there could be some suprises (Please Please Segata Sanshiro!)

Actually, the game only comes out on November 18th for the Wii U. It releases for PS3 and 360 on November 20th. I might be wrong, but every source I find says this.

Known about this for a really long time. Although gameplay footage of how she plays is nice.

Considering that All Guest Characters did not take slots of Sega Characters, as confirmed by game producer S0L, I don’t see the harm in this at all. Nice bit of promotional tools for the game. Adding another female is good too. Plus it’s interesting to see an Actually real life racer in the game, and quite a successful one at that. I say the only thing cooler is if it was Michael Schumacher, or Senna.

Also, Ristar can be seen at 0:58, Ristar is the Flagman this time around.

Now, we have Danica and Wreck it Ralph, who is the third guest character they keep teasing…
