I am more happy than ever that I per-ordered my Wii U today.

See that headline up there? That is pretty much all we have for you at the moment. On the other hand, for anyone who has played Xenoblade Chronicles that also should already be reason enough to get excited. That is because the creators of what I consider to be best RPG of this generation, Monolith Soft, have officially confirmed today that even as you read this they are working on a new game for the Wii U. Along with the fact that it will be a completely new IP, we know nothing else about the game at this time.

So no release window, no gameplay details, not even a title. Which is disappointing on one level and completely unimportant on another. I mean this is Monloith Soft we are talking about here. Not only did they create Xenoblade, they are also responsible for the criminally forgotten and undervalued Baten Kaitos series. So no matter what the game being worked on, there is almost no chance it will not be several shades of awesome at the very least. To put it another way, Monolith Soft’s last game was one of the best arguments to own a Wii ever released. Chances are good the same will be true for its Wii U follow up as well.

Now let us all just hope that the relative success of Xenoblade Chronicles, combined with a refocusing by Nintendo on the hardcore gaming audience, means we will not have to wait years and/or start a major movement to get it released in North America. Fingers crossed. Stay tuned to Blistered Thumbs for continuing coverage of the game as more information becomes available and be sure to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

Now guys, don’t shoot me on this. But wouldn’t it be cool if Monolith was working on Earthbound?

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY.

While I feel it’s presumptuous of me to agree with the sentiment of Xenoblade being the greatest RPG of this generation, I absolutely love the game and will happily demand Baten Kaitos being released on the Wii U Virtual Console and hoping that a Xenosaga HD Collection is made.

I’m curious if this will be another Xeno game or something else entirely. I’m not expecting a Xenoblade sequel, but if it’s anything like that game, then I’ll definitely want it.

Please don’t take as long as Xenoblade Chronicles did to get imported after completion.

Sweet blazes, yes! I now have even more of a reason to want a Wii U. Here’s hoping it’s good and Project Rainfall does not have to convince Nintendo to localize it.

Looking forward to whatever this game turns out to be; may even be the game that I buy a Wii-U for.

It’s probably going to be a new IP, and I have no problem with that, although a part of me would love an HD collection/remake of the Xenosaga trilogy. Or Baten Kaitos. Either one would be great.

I’d rather a saga focused on Xenogears be made.

They can’t make a Xenogears game Square Enix owns the rights to Xenogears.

That didn’t stop them from making Xenosaga 3 which is just crawling with Xenogears imagery.

Imagery is one thing because the things they used weren’t copies of xenogears licensed material but no they still can’t make a xenogears games because those are owned by SE but they could make a gears like game but not a prequel or sequel.

Since I cant reply to Touga, I’ll reply to myself.

My point was, if you took time to think about it instead of just getting condescending, was they basically did make another Xenogears game. They used a lot of the ideas and even yanked characters straight from the game. They just didn’t call it Xenogears. Thus there’s nothing really stopping them from making another “spiritual sequel/prequel” like XS3.

Sorry it’s not the same they just used a few things here and there when they were doing Xenosaga I should know I played all 3 in english and japanese but like I said only a few idea’s from the gears universe were used mainly the Zohar but beyond that no because unless you have read the translated version of the perfect works book there isn’t very much connection beside the Zohar being a big part of the plot.

Very cool, not planning on getting a Wii-U at launch, but I’ll definitely be getting one at some point.
