A video appeared on YouTube today with apparent information on the Wii U’s release date. More intriguingly, it also details multiple bundles that will supposedly be offered. The video shows a webpage from VDP, who distributes to Amazon, among other clients.
The webpage not only shows that the Wii U will be released on November the 11th this year, but that the console will be offered in 3 different bundles. Ranging from $250 to $350, the Wii U will be the first Nintendo console to come in more than one type at launch, perhaps now owing to internal memory playing a major role in the consoles of today. On the other hand, it may be due to the inclusion or exclusion of Wii remotes, tablet controllers or other peripherals. After Nintendo choose to sell the 3DS XL in Europe and Japan without including a charger in with the console anything is possible.
This information does seem to be supported by other rumors floating around the net about a release in November, but without official confirmation, I would take this news with a pinch of salt. The Wii U will be out before Christmas as was announced at E3, but for solid information I would wait until next week when Reggie is due to speak at a Nintendo event in New York. If the release is confirmed at this event, expect to find out which games will be joining the console on release day, as no official confirmation of release titles is yet available.
Our wonderful Skitch was quick to point out that recent Nintendo console are released around the 18th-21st of November (Gamecube, DS, Wii), so a November release is well within reason. All I know is, we in the UK are going to get overcharged for all hardware and probably have to wait a couple of extra days for the pleasure too! I’m not bitter or anything.

I am doubting the 250 price tag because if it was going to start at 250 Nintendo would have announced it at E3 and not still hiding it so most likely the launch systems will be the 300 and 350 ones then later the will drop it to 250.
Call me old-fashioned and a broken record but uh…..GAMES. I would genuinely love to buy a Wii U and perhaps two or three games at launch. I think the system looks like a lot of fun, and 250 IS a reasonable price.
But alas, aside from ports of old games they only have Zombie U, Pikmin 3, Mario Whatever 4, and Nintendoland. Pikmin’s pretty much for Pikmin fans only, so the only solid-looking title is Zombie U, with little of promise on the horizon. “We might have Smash Bros! Maybe. Probably. Not sure when.”
I see a serious lack of Nintendo first-party titles for the Wii U. I mean….they do have other franchises other than Mario and Pikmin. I’m guessing Zelda needs to recharge its Hyper Beam after Skyward Sword, so okay. What about….Mother? Even a virtual console port? F-Zero? The meme is strong, so the fanbase thrives despite NOTHING but Smash Bros for the Cap. Star Fox? Animal Crossing? I’d even settle for Harvest Moon.
$250 sounds about right. What I’m confused by is the 300 and 350 prices.
Maybe that’s for Pro or additional tablet controllers, but that’s almost like there’s a hard drive in there. I’m confused. Didn’t Nintendo confirm NO internal hard drive?
If it’s not a hard drive I won’t miss it; I rather like the idea of plugging an external in, and Nintendo has always made a point of using easily accessible memory, like SD cards on the DS. It’s just a curiosity.
At least it’s not 599 US Dollars…
Well obviously, you can only charge that much if the console has Riiiiiiidge Racer! But seriously having bundles ranging from $250-$350 sound like pretty good prices to me.
Agreed, and TBH, I’d get a Wii U just so i can finally play Monster Hunter Tri or other Wii game’s I’ve passed up on the tablet controller’s screen. Our LCD TV in the living room sits at a height and angle that makes reading text nearly impossible, so looking at the tablet controller’s screen would help a lot.
