Nintendo Officially Confirms 23 Launch Day Titles for Wii U , 10.0 out of 10 based on 2 ratings

Soon guys. Very, very soon.

While the Wii U was officially given a launch date and price last week, that matter of exactly which games would be released when remained more ambiguous. Now at last that has changed at least somewhat as Nintendo has released the information of which titles have exactly been locked in for release alongside the system on November 18. And in general it is more surprising what is not included than what it is. Also confirmed are the remainder of the games expected to release for the system within a month of November along with the first confirmed released of 2013. Check it all out below.

Assassin’s Creed III

The Wonderful 101

One interesting thing to note is that the official Nintendo website still lists both Rayman Legends and Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth with release dates of November 18. What, if anything, this means for the actual release of these games remains to be seen. At the very least, it leads me to believe that at least some of the games on that final list could still come out this year for Wii U and that only the actual launch day lineup has been locked in. I suppose we will see soon enough.

Regardless, overall it is a strong launch day lineup, with a good mix of ports, multi-platform releases, casual popular titles, and fully original affairs, that also promises a good selection of followup titles in the days ahead as well. Certainly its stronger than what we have seen for other recent console launches such as the 3DS and PS Vita and no doubt this selection of games has at least some bearing on the strong presales that the Wii U has been experiencing. Wow! Look at that list! Lots of interesting, fun games that I can play on other consoles I already own! :D

CODBLOPS2, Making your Wii-U brown and gritty for the holiday season.

And I’m glad Sega is making smart business decisions like making a Sonic cart racing game as their launch entry. I know that, and totally not Bayonetta 2 being announced, are why I’m getting a Wii-U.

AC3, Mario, ZombiU, Epic Mickey 2? Well, color me impressed! I guess Nintendo learned their lesson from the 3DS’ launch!

I might get this at launch afterall!

Out of all of those, the only one I know I want from the launch day is Epic Mickey.

As much as I love Nintendo, I have to agree that the launch lineup leaves something to be desired. I suppose it’s good that they’re now getting the big games that other consoles get, like Black Ops, but…other consoles can get them.

Epic Mickey 2 and ZombiU are looking good, but Pikmin 3 is the big one for me and a lot of others, it seems. Has there been any announcement of when it might come out? Is there no chance it’ll be out by Christmas?

Aw man, no confirmed date for Pikmin 3? Watch it get delayed by a year like Kid Icarus Uprising was.

Nintendo’s exclusive line-up is looking paltry. Nintendoland doesn’t appeal me, little too simple in concept. And New Super Mario Bros U barely looks “new” as the rest of the series does. Same general world themes, same koopaling bosses as always, same annoying music style that features Baa-ing sheep in it, still 2 random toads for Plyaer 3 and 4. And no doubt the whole “Not enough room for 4 players to precision platform” problem the first game is still going to exist, with people trolling by stealing all the powerups, pushing/throwing people into pits. And now there’s a 5th controller to place platforms and block jumps at crucial moments dooming you into certain death. Not impressed at all.

Assassin’s Creed 3, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 are available on other platforms, and the games I do want, Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends and The Wonderful 101 are not available at launch. No day 1 buy here Nintendo, you need to prove there will be more cooler stuff for your console . I still don’t even know what your online shopping service is going to be like and what games it will have…

Looks like a boring launch and post launch so far for the Wii U. I do like the look of Assassin’s Creed III and Aliens: Colonial Marines but I can just get those titles for other systems.
