Oh yeah, now that is what I like to see.

As of today, Mark of Ninja is now available on Xbox Live Arcade and that very fact is making it rather hard for me not to start outright drooling. For those who have yet to hear of the game, Mark of Ninja is a 2D stealth action game that attempts to bring new life to the very concept and by many accounts is succeeding at doing just that. Oh and did I mention yet it is from the Klei Entertainment, the same studio who gave us the brilliant Shank series? Which means of course you know the game will look great and feature dead-on controls if nothing else.

Basically, as someone with a fondness for a. gorgeous 2D games b. stealth action titles & c. ninjas, I was already prepared to go all in on the game. And that was before even viewing its launch trailer, which gives a good overview of both the setup and the gameplay driving Mark of Ninja. This is not just some quickly made half-baked stab at 2D stealth title ala last year’s flawed Rush’n Attack remake. No, this is a game that has some big ideas regarding the genre while still honoring the best of what has come before. At the very least, check out the aforementioned launch trail below and see what you think.

Mark of Ninja is available now on Xbox Live Arcade for 1200 Microsoft Points (aka 15 dollars). Stay tuned to Blistered Thumbs for our official review of the game and be sure to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.
