Lotus Prince Let’s Play: Shadow of the Colossus (Complete)!, 9.2 out of 10 based on 12 ratings

This game offers a beautiful world that seems to have been untouched by humans for centuries, if not millenia. Most man-made structures are in ruins, and the only company we have is our horse – well, unless you count the faceless Dormin that tells us where to go. The objective is to bring a dead girl back to life, but in order to do so, we must combat sixteen colossi. These aren’t your standard video game giants, either; these are TRUE giants. Ladies and gentlemen…let’s go crazy!

Special thanks to my friend Zhu Zhu for the awesome title card!

The way you got on “the horse” was new to me. I always hop onto it’s facebeads when it glances in the holes and climbed up onto his face.

As someone who’s not really a gamer, I appreciate you doing Let’s Plays of awesome games like this. That way I don’t have to miss out. Also, I thought your little aside with the Hebrew alphabet was very amusing and informative.

Hey, I hope that what happened with my comment on the Silent Hill 4 video doesn’t happen again here, but here it goes: the name of the 6th (I think) colossi, “Barba” means beard in Spanish. I wonder why…hehe

Man I loved this game. The story was practically non-existent, but everything else really makes up for it. Amazing soundtrack, amazing visuals (even now they still look damn good), and not to mention climbing the colossi and killing them is one of the most fun and satisfying things I’ve ever done in a video game.

I wish more games would have bosses like these.

The interesting thing is that the story is there, but you have to piece it together yourself. The game shows only a little, but there’s more to it than that, which is really awesome.

Speaking of those colossi, I remember showing this game to my brother. I was on the giant underwater eel. He asked where the boss was. I told him I was standing on it. Oh man, his reaction. :)

Well, its biggest “problem” was always the reaction/summary.

some guy “What is the game honestly about?”

another guy “Well, you basically climb gigantic enemies and stab them in their weak spot, but it’s more about the visuals and scale of the entire world”

some guy “What if I don’t care about the visuals or scale and want a fun game?”

    another guy “………uh……………………”

What if I don’t care about the visuals? I dunno, how about the awesome gameplay? :-P

But really, describing basic gameplay does sound overly simple. And actually, it kind of is. It’s what it signifies that matters, but that gets into spoiler territory, of course.

What’s with that title card? The whole point of the game is that the boy goes against reason, rules and fate yet there he is looking emo and letting himself be enveloped by a colossus.

It’s a cool take on the game. Normally SotC art features the colossi themselves, but for once, this one focuses on Wander. In a sense, he is kind of enveloped by the colossi, considering that they’re his ever-present mission objective, and he does have to deal with the consequences of his actions, concerning a colossus later. In a sense, the colossi do envelop Wander through the course of the game. :-D

It really is a shame. The game’s story was there, but it was presented subtly. Its music only played when appropriate. The colossi were massive, but grand, rather than intimidating. This game truly accomplished what it set out to do.
