Lotus Prince Let’s Play: I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream (Complete), ![]()
This game’s premise is depressing. Five people have been granted eternal lives by an insane computer that hates them, and all they want to do is die. But they can’t. The objective of this game is to die. Yes, seriously.
PRO-TIP: Read the Harlan Ellison short story of the same name before watching this Let’s Play. It’s only ten pages long. Be warned, though: it’s more depressing than this game. A lot more.
This video is a playlist! When the video loads, you can skip to any installment you wish, or let them play continuously!
This is my eleventh Let’s Play! Want to see more? Check out my show page, here!

NOTE: The game I Let’s Played after this one was Eternal Darkness. Because that was the first thing I submitted to Blistered Thumbs, I shall of course skip to the LP that I did after it.

To bad Ted can’t read Arabic, I mean hell, I think after reading “Kitab Al Azif” (AKA “The Necronomicon”) Ted should have gone so crazy he would have thought he could take AM on alone.
Just finished this LP. I didn’t realize older games could be so interesting, but in the end I’m glad this wasn’t as bleak as the short story. I was tempted to read it but after hearing what you had to say about it I think the LP will suffice. Good work, Lotus Prince.
Oh Gorrister is scene was HEART-CORE!
XD
The game was interesting and something I didn’t know about for sure.
Although I’m sure I’ve seen other people use the “title image” a few times in message boards and the like leaving me wondering what it was supposed to be or mean, lol.
I don’t know if you missed it, or just chose not to say anything about it, but Dr. Mengele was a real Nazi. He even lived in my country (Argentina) for a while. Here’s the Wikipedia article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josef_Mengele
Yeah, I didn’t learn that Mengele was a real person until later. That’s freaking crazy. Also, wow, I didn’t know he lived in Argentina! THE MORE YOU KNOW
Yeah, he came here in 1955 and left in 1962. Then he went to Paraguay and then Brazil, where he died.
Remember the second option for the password at the end of game? Something about 1979, the year when the Angel of Death died in the Amazon?
Guess when and where did Mengele die…
Oh wow, that’s some real trivia, there. Great catch!
So, what happens if you just try to have the last person electrocute themself, too?
Actually, that’s a good question. I don’t know; maybe you all die, but the people on the moon are screwed?
oh snap, one of the first LPs that i watched of yours as you start putting the videos out on tgwtg
Oh wow, awesome!
This is how you make a idea into a video game. You make the creator control it and you build it around something that make’s sense. It’s a book, make it readable. It’s dark, keep it dark. The game only really has one basic one good ending and you still die.
I have NO IDEA why they did this. But its an experience that I enjoyed reading and watching time and time and again.
Yeah, seriously. Is it THAT hard to give creative control to the guy who made the source material? So many inspired games seem to have that problem. They definitely made the right decision here.
However, I think that the developers actually had to convince Ellison to allow for the game’s “true ending,” because without that, this REALLY would’ve been soul-crushing.
Great let’s play I’m glad your using the guide but in the 2nd episode with Benny the audio is really bad. I think you might be sitting a little close to the mic or your mic is dying.
Yeeeeeah, it might partly be my proximity to the mic, and it also might be a general audio problem I had during the entire LP. Recording from DOSBox isn’t easy, and trying to sync this stuff was a royal pain. :-\
Ellen has a problem with the color yellow? Maybe she’s secretly a Green Lantern!
“Nothing green”? That settles it! She’s a Green Lantern!
From brightest day to blackest night, OH GOD IT’S THAT GUY FROM BEFORE
Swing and a miss.
This game…this game is so great. And so depressing.
The author Harlan Ellison does AM’s voice.
Yeah, I was REALLY pleased that he did that voice. He definitely pushes the hatred in his voice, too. Very well done.
