Ah zombies. Completely overused concept in video games or… You know what, in this case I really do not have any alternatives to offer. I know, I know. There is a reason zombies have become a perennial video game bad guy and certainly there have been some great games to feature undead over the years. Yet for every The Walking Dead or Resident Evil, it feels like there are a thousand more bad zombie games out there seemingly trying to emulate their inspiration via swarming all of us and destroying our brains with the sheer tedium of it all. At the very least, it takes something special indeed to catch my attention when it comes to zombie games these days.
Such as, oh I do not know, a new title from none other than Keiji Inafune himself that also features ninjas and robots! Yeah. That would just about do it. Titled Yabia, the game, which is being worked on via Inafune’s development studio Comcept, looks to feature all the delightful lunacy that fans have come to expect from the man. Check out what Inafune has to say regarding the game, along with its teaser trailer, below:
The expectation seems higher in the west. The expectation is clear. It’s for my next zombie game. There are countless zombie games out there, and yet, people say they want to see a new Inafune zombie game. I am flattered and grateful, for people associating me as a ‘Zombie Lover’. For that, I must, answer to this expectation. This new concept for my game was born some time after becoming independent. I don’t want to spoil everything just yet, but I hope you will enjoy my new game that is loaded with stuff I love, zombies, ninjas, robots, and action. It’s called ‘YAIBA’. I hope you are excited. I know I am.
A release window, planned platforms, and a myriad of other details about Yabia has yet to be confirmed. Stay tuned to Blistered Thumbs for continuing coverage of the game and be sure to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

Cybernetic ninja slaughtering zombies… Can I pre-order now?
Just figured it would be worth mentioning that “yaiba” is the Japanese word that refers to the blade of a katana. Which makes sense, given the subject.
Man Inafune has been on a roll since leaving Capcom, and just the name has got my attention. Looking forward to seeing more on this game.
INAFKING FOR THE WIN! I am still hoping someone will make a realistic open-world ninja game, but a Ninja VS Zombie game could be cool – I am getting a bit tired of Zombies, but they do make for good enemies.
