When we told you that Angry Birds was getting a sequel we may have spoken too soon. Rovio doesn’t consider Bad Piggies a true successor to their massive mobile franchise, insisting that, “This is the sibling of Angry Birds.” Fair enough, but how does it play?

Yahoo! Games has the exclusive video (at the link below) but I can describe the basic gameplay to you. It involves building vehicles–cars, planes, etc.–and piloting them with the titular pigs in order to steal the eggs of some familiar fowl. The experience seems to hinge on the simplicity of putting together your machine. Just as promised, there are no slingshots in sight. As Rovio EVP of Games Petri Järvilehto put it, “Bad Piggies and Angry Birds are complete opposites. Angry Birds smash things up, Bad Piggies build stuff. “

Bad Piggies releases on September 27th, 2012 for iOS and Android users.
