Update:
Ubisoft and Techland have confirmed the existence of the next Call of Juarez game, subtitle “Gunslinger.” The sequel will apparently be returning to the Old West setting. The title will be arriving on PC, PS3 and X360 sometime in 2013, although it is not clear if this will be a full retail release for consoles. Check out the live-action teaser trailer below.
Original Story:
Not all is quiet on the Wild Western Front. Ubisoft released the above image this morning in an apparent attempt to tease an announcement for Thursday, seemingly hinting at something related to Call of Juarez. The promotional image appears to lean more in the direction of the older games in the series than the recent entry, The Cartel, which we were not particularly big fans of. Either way, there should be an official announcement on the Call of Juarez FaceBook page tomorrow.
What do you think about revisiting this franchise again so soon? Does gaming need a strong Western IP, or should they just stop trying? Will anything ever top Red Dead Redemption? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

While it probably won’t happen, don’t ever say “it couldn’t get worse than…” because it’s always possible with some game companies. I almost wonder if it’s an unconscious challenge
Every try is a good one. And i liked “Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood”.
The Cartel was a really terrible game with even more serious issues regarding Gameplay and Design, not to mention the idotic story and poor justification for being a Call of Juarez game.
Techland hopefully has learned its lesson. They should go back to the Old West.
What is the point of having your game bear the title of an Old Western game if it’s not going to be an Old Western game itself? The Cartel might as well have been called “The Elder Scrolls: The Cartel” for all the sense it made.
I personally think there’s plenty of room for an Old Western shooter type game. After all, we already have about a million Modern Military FPS’s, and about a million JRPG’s about pre-teen kids saving the world from someone who wants to save it by destroying it, and about a million zombie games. To me, the Old West is a setting that hasn’t been thoroughly explored in gaming, and it bears a lot of potential.
Would it be able to top Red Dead? Probably not, unless they worked real hard on it. But I still think it would be worth a SHOT! *BA-DOOM TSSHH!*
