BSG: Diaspora: Shattered Armistice: Adjective Noun: Colon Released,
You guys may not have noticed that I am utterly and absolutely bananas for the spaceflight simulator game. Freelancer, X-Wing Alliance, and a few upcoming titles grace my news posts regularly, but there’s one that I don’t talk about. I don’t usually talk about it because everybody already knows that it’s pretty much the best there is out there for a multitude of reasons, and Freespace 2 certainly doesn’t skimp on the mod fronts. If it hasn’t been explained to you, the story goes that Volition Games, developer of the Freespace games decided to release the source code to Freespace 2 after being sold off from Interplay, upset that they wouldn’t be able to go back to the series ever again. What’s followed is the most incredible collection of mods, full conversion and otherwise, any space flight game has ever seen.
Conversely, Battlestar Galactica – a venerated drama reboot in geekdom circles, has mostly failed when it’s come to taking a foothold in the videogame world, with only a handful of games taking the name, the most famous perhaps being a free to play browser based MMO. Not to disparage free to play, or browser based games, but when that’s the largest release you’ve had to date, you might be underusing your intellectual properties.
The more whip smart of you see where I’m going with this correlation. You see, for some time now a team of modders have been working on a Battlestar Galactica total conversion mod of Freespace 2, titled Diaspora: Shattered Armistice. Well, with their last update coming in May of last year, they decided to drop the bomb last week and just release it.
Ack! Quick! Get the joysticks out! Toasters need frakking! Go to the website!

All I can say is that my jump prep is ready and currently all I can is nothing but the rain.
Sooo much awesomeness.
