Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition Delayed Until November
It looks like players will have to wait significantly longer before returning to the Sword Coast.

The much anticipated remake of BioWare’s classic RPG Baldur’s Gate was supposed to arrive next week. I say supposed to because today the word came down from Trent Oster, the president of Overhaul Games & the developer responsible for the remake, himself that the game has officially been pushed back to late November. How late you might ask? How about ‘the last day of the month’ late.
That is right, Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition is now set for release on November 30 of this year. According to Oster, the reason for the delay centers around the developer wanting to implement what he describes as “overwhelming feedback” rec ivied for the game in the form of “suggestions, fixes, and translations” as fully as possible. Oster also promised “something a little extra” for those who have previously pre-ordered the game, though he failed to give details on exactly what this might actually entail. Oster’s full statement follows:
When we first announced Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, you set fire to our servers and we were overwhelmed by the huge wave of support from the fans of the original game.
Once the fires had subsided, thousands of you posted suggestions and requests on our forums. Dozens of volunteers from all over the world helped us improve game play, squash bugs, and generally fine-tune the game. Even more came to help work on translations from English to more than 16 other languages.
Executing on our plan to make the best Baldur’s Gate possible and responding to that overwhelming feedback, we’ve added new characters, areas, and story, creating many new hours of game play. Yet the suggestions, fixes, and translations continue, and more volunteers keep joining.
After recently reviewing the game and then consulting with our partners, we’ve decided to ensure that Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition is the best possible product on launch. Thus, we have pushed back the release date of the game. Our plan is to release in November, 2012.
To all who have pre-ordered, we ask for your patience as we move toward our final release date — and we will be working on something a little extra for you. To all who have volunteered, we thank you for your dedication and support.
-Trent

Before Mass Effect, Dragon Age, or even Knights of the Old Republic, there was Baldur’s Gate.
I wonder if Xzar is still insane? My guess is yes.

Music Mondays revisits the band that brought us tunes from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Bit.Trip Runner.
I seem to recall they suggested the extra content would be available in the form of DLC to existing owners of the series.
To that end, GOG.com is currently having a sale on all D&D products including the Baldurs’ Gate series, so some of you might like to check that out
In other, slightly related news, look up Project Eternity! It’s a new kickstarter by Obsidian to make an Infinity Engine-style RPG like Baldur’s Gate, Icewind Dale, and Planscape: Torment, it’s what Obsidian’s counter teaser was about.
