Capcom and Dontnod Entertainment’s Remember Me was the surprise announcement of Gamescom, so it stands to reasons that they would release something exciting around PAX time. What we have here is 10 minutes of gameplay footage, which I think is always better than PR promises or carefully cherry-picked screenshots.
I haven’t decided what to think of this game yet. I’m stuck somewhere between Psychonauts: Human Revolution, Assassin’s Creed: Total Recall, and Uncharted: Blade Runner Edition. All of these sound really awesome in theory, but I’m not sure if I’m sold yet. What do you think?
Remember Me releases for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC in May 2013.

I dunno, it’s pretty, and the gameplay looks solid, varied, and interesting, but if this and the other video I saw for this (was that at E3? i can’t remember) are any indication, the writing feels very hackneyed, like they literally took lines from The Terminator or some other classic sci-fi action flick with cheesetastic dialogue.
The other video I think had her manipulate this other guy’s memory to cause something to happen to his company, which ended in him committing suicide over what he perceived was his drunken murder of his wife. My question about that setup though, is, did it HAVE to end in his suicide? Games love to revert to violence on a lot of these matters when they could go a more interesting route, like have his business decisions slip because of a deep, guilt-ridden depression brought on by the altered memory. That way, the results of the mission would be immediately unclear, but would be elaborated on through the game with news updates on the state of that company or something. It would feel much more like the player is making some huge impact on the corporate landscape of the places they are interfering in.
Well, it’s pretty. It’s very pretty. With a name like “Remember Me,” though, I was hoping for something that looked a little more substantial. This gameplay only shows some peices of Metal Gear, Mirror’s Edge, and Prince of Persia throne together, with some exagerated hip-movement, drawn-out and formulaic fight encounters and cheesy dialogue for spice (none of which I’m particularly partial to). I’ll listen for the word of mouth, but so far this does not look like my type of game.
Considering the type of games I usually play are the ones that people are comparing this game to, I have to say that I am rather interested. The dialogue is a little lame so far (I agree with the other commentor here that it sounds cheesy) but I hope that in the end the game will do well. It looks like it has a lot of potential so we’ll see how it goes.
Game looks awesome as hell, voice acting is bad, though.
I’m gonna go with “Prince of Persia: Arkham Asylum”.
I’m interested, alright, this seems like my kind of game, but I do hope the dialog isn’t gonna be too cheesy throughout the entire game. I mean “you fucker”, “the hunted becomes the hunter”…really? And the way she runs looks a bit stiff.
But there’s a lot of potential here, though since this is a new IP I doubt they’ll be able to take full advantage of it. I’m keeping an eye out and I’ll wait for the reviews.
I was going to comment on the same things. A combination of the script and the voice acting was making me cringe. She looks like she’s jogging, and if a fucking helicopter is chasing you, I want to see you sprinting for your life, not jogging. Though as with the running looking stiff and almost laid back, the character herself never expressed any serious emotion that made me think she was in any immediate danger. There was no panic in her voice at any time, she seemed more annoyed with any set back than anything, so this scene which should have the player (and in this case the viewer) leaning forward and worrying over what’s going to happen with her never happened. I was bored watching this, which sucks because I was looking forward to this game. I don’t know who is writing this game, but they and the VOs need to go back over it. I can’t become emotionally invested in characters if they themselves are too cool to care. It’s like she knows she’s going to live because she’s the protagonist.
Color me interested. I’m praying to all deities of the Silicon Pantheon for this game to be good.
Also,it better has some hot’n'heavy sex scenes. Why? Because, like George Michael once sung: Sex is natural, sex is fun!
o.o CBeary wants. beep boop.
The title makes me think of the Iron Gate level theme from Sonic Adventure 2.
