Yu Yu Hakusho is one of my favorite animes, shame its never really had a great game released outside japan, there was Dark Tournament which I have heard nothing but bad stuff about and Spirit Detective on the Game boy advanced which I have and like, its a bit simplistic and a little unfair at times, but it works well enough.
This game looks pretty good, I’ll have to try it out sometime, though the team battle should have been 5 on 5 to match the dark tournament, but whatever.
I prefer the other “fighting” game on the SF. In which it’s more of a animated fighter than a controlled fighter like Street Fighter is.
It’s called Yū Yū Hakusho: Tokubetsu Hen, and I can’t think of any examples of it that were release in the states. Maybe Metabots as a close idea.
You charge up a meter basically and use different moves or attacks. The stronger attack based on the attack it’s self and meter will over come the opponents attack if both are launched out the same time and also hit them.
It’s very interesting and also has some combo’s in it. That if a character charges Ki or uses stat boost items the right way they will use their special ability’s. Like a old master who body will turn young again or a sword wielding user will gain more power attacks.
Definitive a game that you can play, but will require a bit more work to understand what goes on. Here’s a tip. Holding the D-pad in each of the 4 ways opens up a type of move. While pressing any of the ABXY buttons will tell the game what move to use. From Movement/Melee/Charging/Ki attacks. And again if you use moves in certain orders you can unlock extra moves or transform your character.
I don’t know the name but there is like a Yū Yū Hakusho: Tokubetsu Hen [2] out. Still on the SF but again I’m not sure if I told you the first game or the second. It does have a few characters in it, that are not in the other game.
Ah, the cinematic fighter genre. A (now mostly dead) sub-type of fighters that focused less on various combos and complicated playstyle and more on recreating scenes/special attacks from the show. I recall both Godzilla and Kinnikuman having similar games, too.
J-Dub,Wait a sec, you trying to say that your a bit heavier then Yanki J?

As far as Neverending Shonen Manga* go, YYH is one of the better ones isn’t it?
* Stuff like DBZ or Bleach. And yes I know many of such series did, in fact, end.
