Ubisoft may have headlined their Gamescom press conference with Rayman Legends, but the Might & Magic franchise stole the show through sheer numbers. Three separate free-to-play games in the series were highlighted, as follows:
Might & Magic Heroes Online:
Official description: Might & Magic Heroes Online (MMHO) is a free-to-play strategy RPG game in which you control powerful Heroes and their armies as they do battle throughout the fantasy world of Ashan. No download is required; experience classic Heroes gameplay directly in your browser!
Might & Magic Raiders:
Official description: Set in the Might & Magic universe, Might & Magic Raiders is a Free to Play Action/RPG game which will allow you to embody 4 different classes, each one having their own characteristics and abilities.
Might & Magic Duel of Champions:

No release date information has been revealed for Heroes Online or Raiders, but Duel of Champions is in closed beta right now. All three games are PC exclusive.

When I hear ‘Might and Magic’, I think of the early 90′s RPG and not what Ubisoft has done to the Heroes of Might and Magic series. Haven’t even beaten the fifth game nor purchased the sixth. It changed too much for my tastes. And now there’s three different F2P games in development.
No hate against F2P games; I’ve played MapleStory for about six years. Doesn’t mean they have something in common that make players stay away from the game. Updates that have exploits players find to boost themselves and may not be fixed for quite sometime, some items only purchasable with money (basically pay-to-win), or a crappy community.
Now, we have a turn-based RPG, a hack-and-slash RPG, and a card game. I don’t want to sound (anymore) negative, but Ubisoft hasn’t had the best ideas for the series. V introduced a new story that was completely different, even from IV, and VI didn’t sell well; developer Black Hole Entertainment filed bankruptcy afterwards.
I really don’t see these games going far, unless you love the series.
