Yep… those are words.

It appears that Square Enix has let the cat out of the bag early. Even though there are still two days left on the counter at the teaser website, a listing for a CD blew the big surprise. The SE store had a premature posting for an album called The World Ends With You – Crossover –, which revealed remixed tracks from an iOS version of the original game. So, there you have it: TWEWY is coming to mobile devices.

The incriminating details have since been deleted from the storefront, but crafty gamers were able to screen-cap them before it was too late. You can see one such picture above, as well as additional evidence at the link below.

Well, the countdown is over and it turns out we’re getting…an ios port that has some new music.

The only question is how much fan rage will this spawn?

Too early to call “BETRAYAL” on this one. Yes, it’s going on iOS devices, but could we at least wait and see what it looks like (or plays like) before we decide on whether the TWEWY fans should join up with the Megaman fans over this and Megaman XOver?

So the big secret is just that we’re getting an ios port?
Here’s what’s probably the general reaction from the TWEWY fanbase:

Part of me is pissed that it’s only for iOS. And the other part of me is confused as how they would port the game to a mobile phone. Does anyone remember the battle system for this game? You know, the whole dual screen battle system. It required both buttons and the touch screen. How can an iPhone replicate that?

    I’m also pissed that this isn’t a sequel for 3DS. Or a digital re-release on 3DS.

It might only be an pad port and not a phone port. Or they could simply make the touch controls on one side of the screen and then have button presses linked to the top half. It could be very simple to make this game for iOS, with a thing that is entirely a touch pad everything on it is your controller.

I could imagine it on an iPad but I can’t imagine it being good. I just don’t like touchscreen buttons. I feel like it wouldn’t provide the response I need for that kind of combat. I think I’m just old fashioned. I like my buttons to be buttons.

So they’re just porting it to the iOS and still haven’t announced any plans for a sequel? That’s good news for iOS players, but I’m a little disappointed. TWEWY is one of the few Square Enix games made in the past 5 years I enjoyed and one of the few series by Square I think needs a sequel.

That’s it? Seems like an awfully weak reason to make a countdown-style teaser site.

Agreed. What warranted this… hyped-up… soul-crushing… announcement? *cries*

Considering how they’ve put the first three Final Fantasies as well as Dimensions on iOS, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.

There is apparently more to this, though. https://twitter.com/brilingual/status/238893262570651648

This. I don’t think the countdown would still be going if the thing was REALLY leaked (it is, by the way)
