Team Fortress 2 is the gift that keeps on giving. Today Valve released a launch trailer for the game’s upcoming cooperative multiplayer mode, dubbed “Mann vs. Machine.” As you can see below, the free update will pit you and 5 friends against robot versions of the TF2 characters. New maps, weapons, and upgrade abilities are also included in as well.
It’s also worth noting that the above video was made using the recently released Source FilmMaker. Team Fortress 2 might be one of the most successful and popular free-to-play games of all time, but it’s not the hats that bring fans back year after year. It’s a combination of free content like this and unique tool-sets like the SFM that keep Valve fans so loyal, and that have catapulted this game from Orange Box filler into the popular consciousness.
Mann vs. Machine will be available on August 15th, 2012.

Welcome back to the discussion show where we introduce the debate and you continue it. This week’s topic: Shaun and Johnny Maloney discuss the past & future of Star Wars video games.
Aparently this update was planned since the “Meet the Engineer” update, or some time around. (Check the youtube videos.)
Tbh I love the fact the reds and blues are working together. If this would be their last update, it would definately end them on a high note.
they are robots in the german version anyway
i don´t care for tf2. they should just let it die and finally make new games…
Valve has been working on new games. Development for Half-Life 3 has been teased and hell, Portal 2 just came out last year. They just constantly update their old games so that they have even better than they were before, such as Left 4 Dead 2′s mutations, L4D1 maps and new scenarios, Portal 2′s map creator and new updates to Counter-Strike. I honestly don’t think Team Fortress should have a 3rd installment because with updates like this coming out, the game has enough staying power to out perform any sequel it might have.
OH but they have made new games..they just dont copy-paste-churn out the same exact game like some other FPS giant i can think of *coughCoDcough*. The fact they have a 10+ Year Old Game still running and fun as hell is a testament to how good TF2 is. They don’t -need- to make a new game (at least in TF2′s case). I’d rather a Developer pump out a game every so often as opposed to every damn year.
Why let Team Fortress 2 die? It’s bringing in some decent revenue, and it has a strong following. I’m more then sure Valve’s team at this point can work on multiple projects without it slowing them down. As some others have said, Portal 2 came out last year, and Global offensive is coming this year. There is also the fact that Valve is most certainly working on Half-Life 3.
@all of you:
i don´t like tf2 very much.
therefore I´d like to see the developing team do something different.
There was no reason or argument in my sentence besides “i don´t like it,i don´t give a shit”.
And I also don´t give a shit about your thumbs down … I´d even say that my comment will be read more often because of you fine folks …
Welcome to the Internet XD Honestly, when you write a comment saying, “I don´t care for TF2. They should just let it die and finally work on something new”, you are gonna get either positive/negative responses to how others feel about it. I just was stating my case as to why TF2 should keep getting updated and that Valve works on other stuff besides TF2. You are free to your own opinion, just know that when you post anything on the web, anyone who sees it will give their view on it.
The fact that the Pyro and Spy were nowhere to be seen in the trailer convinces me they were secretly robots all along. It’s interesting to see even more content being brought to TF2. I’ve always liked coop survival/hoard modes in shooters and this looks like it will be no exception.
I freaking love the trailers they make for this game, even if I don’t really play it that much anymore.
I have an off/on habit with the game. There are some weeks where I can’t stop playing it, and then there are other weeks where I don’t even want to see it.
Is it ironic that I decided to uninstall TF2 yesterday?
