In the three month period leading up to June 2012 Square Enix lost “2,077 million yen.” For those keeping score at home, that’s ¥2,000,000,000 or about $26,385,061. This considerable loss comes after posting significant profits last year, as a result of titles like Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
The official quarterly press release blames consoles game sales, while browser and mobile games showed improvement and profit. The Dragon Quest publisher’s only significant releases during this period were Heroes of Ruin and Quantum Conundrum. Anticipated titles like Theatrhythm Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts 3D were released in July, so the high sales from these titles will be reflected on next quarter’s report.
Total sales from this quarter are actually up from the same quarter last year.

If i get it right, I love how “losses” means not making as much profit as another quarter.
They lost less than the same quarter last year. That’s not the same as profit.
I see, thanks!
It actually does mean that they’re losing money, because unless I’m mixing up my business terminology, this does not include any expenses they have to pay, which would end up with them losing more money than they made.
Console sales, so that counts towards Deus Ex and FF 13-2?
