A new trailer for the next entry in the Splinter Cell series, Blacklist, has been released, showing what looks to be the main parts of a level on the Iran/Iraq border. There are a fair amount of gameplay mechanics showcased in the trailer, from the sneaking and action aspects of general combat to the UAV Sam can call when he needs air support. The aspects are all pretty cool to watch and it really looks like the developers are trying to allow players to handle situations any way they want to, while building on the gameplay seen in Splinter Cell: Conviction.
The trailer also features some commentary by Maxime Beland, the creative director for Blacklist. While I wouldn’t say the remarks are the most interesting I’ve ever heard, there are still some good insights into the design choices the creators have made with this game. For example, the designers are definitely trying to mix up the enemy types, as evidenced by additions such as the attack dogs, which will be able to smell Sam even if he hides.
As I haven’t really played any of the Splinter Cell games before, I can’t comment on how this looks to compare with the previous entries. Regardless, you can check out the trailer for yourself below.
What do you all think about this trailer? Does it new environment and gameplay additions make you excited to see where this game goes, or is the opposite true? Express your opinions in the comments below and be sure to stay tuned to Blistered Thumbs for more information on Blacklist as it comes.

No Michael Ironside, no buy.
No Michael Ironside = fail for me. I cant stand the new voice actor either. He sounds like a little bitch. Completely missing the gruff, hard edge Ironside brought to the game.
Weak as hell. I’ll probably just get a used copy down the road so the publisher/dev get no money for it. Anyone know why he isn’t voicing the character?
